Heath Lane Academy seeks to appoint an ambitious and dynamic Teacher of RE, with the drive, determination and skills to nurture and develop the potential of our increasingly aspirational pupils. We are a small secondary academy with a values-driven, family ethos. As the sole provider of 11-16 education for our immediate community of Earl Shilton and Barwell, we understand and embrace our responsibility to deliver the very best standard of education possible.

Our mission is to 'develop good people' through great education. We want our pupils to grow into well-rounded, knowledgeable young people, determined to make the most of themselves, and to bring out the best in others.

Our vision for all of our stakeholders is the 'best in everyone'. We want everyone in our school community to aspire to be the very best version of themselves by adhering to our core values of respect, kindness and hard work.

Our RE Department is diligent and innovative and offers you:

    · A diverse and fully sequenced curriculum, support from trust-wide subject advisors, whilst also building on local cultural capital and understanding the immediate area

    · Our curriculum is supported by a wealth of enrichment activities and trips

    · An experienced team, which can help develop newer members of the profession and enhance those who have more experience.

    · Whole class feedback and green pen marking used for students to enhance their progress and is designed to reduce teacher workload.

    · Knowledge organisers are used to support homework to reduce workload and help students to build knowledge.

Heath Lane Academy has recently joined United Learning, a large and highly successful multi-academy trust. United Learning brings a wealth of benefits that are already impacting upon our school, our staff, and most importantly, our pupils.

As a group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff wellbeing. Our academies each have at least eight INSET days per year (with three of those solely dedicated to planning), and an ongoing group-wide wellbeing programme. It's an ethos we call 'the best in everyone'. We are working hard to become a more diverse organisation – which is key to our commitment to bringing out the best in everyone.

Furthermore, one of the many benefits of United Learning is the breadth and depth of resources and support available. With a shared curriculum, subject advisors, a national pool of peers, coaching, mentoring and individual CPD plans, your teaching career will develop and grow as much as you want it to. We welcome applications from everyone committed to this ethos and would particularly welcome applications from black and minority ethnic candidates, who are currently under-represented in the Group as a whole. We always appoint on merit, and we are open to discussing flexible working options.

United Learning is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All positions are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and shortlisted candidates will be subject to an online check.
