We are looking for an enthusiastic and visionary
Research Management Lead to help shape how we enable and accelerate genomic research.

This role is a 12 Month, Fixed Term Contract, to cover Maternity Leave.


As we embark on rolling out the new Research Network the Research Management Lead will be at the heart of this transformative initiative.

You will lead a team responsible for engaging with the research community, facilitating collaboration and delivering critical improvement programmes to ensure Genomics England continues to be in a position to effectively foster collaboration and enable research progress.


This maternity cover is a unique opportunity for an individual passionate about driving change to join an organisation at the forefront of genomic innovation, with your work directly influencing the future of scientific discovery and healthcare.


Everyday responsibilities include:


  • Lead the Research Management Team, taking accountability for operationalising the new Research Network and setting it up for success.
  • Manage and direct crossfunctional projects, ensuring deliverables are held to date and to scope, and these are executed consistently to quality.
  • Working with colleagues across the organisation from Product Design, Engineering, Architecture, Data, and Bioinformatics to introduce new processes or tools and achieve transformational change.
  • Engage with network members and work with them to enable knowledge sharing, fostering of collaborations, new research development and patient and participant involvement in research.
  • Oversee membership management systems and ensure research governance processes are followed and maintained.

Skills and experience for success:


  • Experience of leading a team, including ability to mentor, coach and create a collaborative environment.
  • Experience of project management, change management and crossdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Able to influence a range of stakeholders at a variety of seniorities but also willing to listen and take on board other opinions and ideas.
  • Highly proactive and a practical problem solver who likes to figure stuff out rather than explaining why it can't be done.
  • Strong planning and communication skills.
  • Ideally, a working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics or another Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software and an understanding of enabling research through data and data access processes.
