Description

University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking mature, honest, enthusiastic, hardworking and committed individuals, with excellent communication skills, who are able to work in a team and as an individual on own initiative.

You will compliment an existing security (Traffic) department based in the busy environment of the Royal Sussex County and Princess Royal Hospitals.

Hours of work will be as required but based on agreed hours and rostered duties Monday to Friday. Occasional weekend and Bank Holiday work may be required. 27 days' annual leave entitlement per annum. Pro rata for part-time staff. Applicants must have possessed a full, current, clean driving license for a minimum of 2 years (Manual).

You will be required to perform duties within all University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust premises and must be capable of using your communication skills and common sense to deal politely, effectively and efficiently with staff, patients and visitors.

The role will require you to be able to deal with members of the public in a customer orientated environment and be of a calm, sympathetic nature whilst maintaining an authoritative manner.

You may occasionally come into contact with difficult and sometimes aggressive individuals.

You will be given formal training in conflict management skills but a degree of physical and mental robustness is required.

If you have any doubts about your physical abilities or any health problems that will make you more liable to physical or mental harm you should consider carefully whether to apply.

Duties will include foot patrols of car parks, issuing of enforcement notices, the operation of radio communications equipment, mechanical and manual traffic barriers and providing directional information to the general public.

Basic computer literacy and familiarity with standard Microsoft Office software packages would be advantageous. Full training will be provided.
