    The Clinical Engineering Service at Torbay Hospital is an exciting and forward-thinking engineering support service to the local health community, both NHS and private customers.

    We are looking for experienced engineers or technicians who have worked in engineering or electronic/electrical instrumentation or mechanical engineering sector.

    The CES invests in new engineering technology to make a real difference across many sectors of healthcare, such as 3d technology for design and manufacturing, Real Time Assets Tracking and Digital Integration of Medical Devices.

    Training will be provided by our specialist teams and in some cases by the original equipment manufacturer. The CES invests in staff training and excels with support its staff health and wellbeing. We are looking at staff who can accommodate a flexible working arrangement and drive to learn.

    The Clinical Engineering Service has identified a need for a technologist to support the senior engineers and head of service with delivering core elements of the engineering service and supporting our customers Governance/compliance needs.

    The role will focus on insuring specialist technological information from suppliers, regulators and procedures our updated and made available across our various digital platforms.

    Provides specialist advice to the customers regarding medical devices technology and compliance.


    • Provision of technical advice and support to clinical teams, management and external organisations with medical devices procurement, Risk management and technological information;
    • risk management practices to identify product groups, support the MD RRP Program manager with the selection, evaluation and trial of medical devices. Facilitates and undertaking commissioning tests on all new & loan equipment.
    • Insure technical files and information is available across our digital platforms, insuring its relevant, up to date and appropriate to employees of the trust.

    The Clinical Engineering Services provides a comprehensive management & technical support service for a broad spectrum of medical devices used throughout the health, care and social community.

    We are currently developing networks with scientific and laboratory services across Devon with our new Scientific, Laboratory Equipment Support section.

    Medical Electronics being the largest section in CES (providing repair, routine schedule service maintenance, troubleshooting, technical advice and commissioning & device disposal ('cradle to grave').

    Medical Electronics implements and manages Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) Safety Notices and Manufacturer product recall/updates. Critical Care areas (Intensive Care Unit, Coronary Care Unit & High Dependency) and Operating Theatre Support (all Operating Theatres and Recovery areas
