    Job summary

    We have a number of permanent part-time position available due to organisational growth. Experience of working in a primary care setting is essential and the applicant must have a minimum of 2 years experience of working as a HCA. In general, the post holder will be expected to undertake all of the normal duties and responsibilities assciated with a Health Care Assistant working in primary care.

    Main duties of the job

    Working under supervision of the Practice Nurse and independently and in collaboration with the rest of the practice team, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of healthcare related duties. This role takes the responsibility for the delivery of patient care, practice stock, consumables and health and wellbeing delivery.

    Job responsibilities

  • Provide a caring approach to all services and work with the Practice Nurse in the organisation of clinics
  • Works as part of the team to achieve good outcomes in; CQC, QOF, enhanced services and local improvement schemes
  • Ensures awareness of statutory and local clinical protection procedures, including systems of referral. Ability to recognise signs and symptoms of child abuse.
  • Ability to obtain and document informed consent (either verbal or written).
  • Ensure infection control guidelines are implemented and followed.
  • Ability to monitor and manage maintenance of stock and equipment to include refrigeration and emergency equipment and the monitoring under CQC.
  • Assessing the health care needs of patients
  • Providing health education through direction to the right staff in the practice
  • In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans with the Practice Nurse for health
  • Able to recognise and manage anaphylaxis according to current UK guidelines.
  • Able to perform Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation according to current UK guidelines.
  • Supporting the practice and PCN delivery of the Covid response / Vaccine delivery
  • Participate in the organisation and administration of immunisations programme including; flu, covid, shingles, travel vaccinations and others
  • Participation in the running of chronic disease management clinics through the delivery of diagnostic testing.

  • Seasonal Influenza vaccines/B12
  • New Patient Health Checks
  • Over 75 Health Checks
  • Electrocardiograph recording
  • Blood pressure monitoring
  • Hypertension monitoring
  • Pulse rate recording
  • 24-hour blood pressure monitoring
  • Phlebotomy
  • Dressings, suture removal
  • Support and educate patients to adopt and promote healthy lifestyles and apply principles of self-care

    Experience

    Essential

  • Experience with undertaking patient appointments, undertaking diagnostics and healthcare support.
  • Experience and understanding of the GP Practice environment, including in terms of systems and processes, and particularly with regards to confidentiality.
  • A commitment to maintaining your clinical skills and knowledge, to ensure our patients receive evidence-based care.
  • Willingness to develop.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management skills / ability to work to deadlines.
  • A flexibility to work outside of core office hours.
  • Additional roles and responsibilities will attract the higher rate of remuneration according to our pay scale.
