    Job summary

    #hellomyname is Chris Giles and I am the Assistant Housekeeping Manager at the West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust.

    Our Housekeepers are responsible for contributing to the provision of a clean, safe and comfortable environment for our patients, staff and visitors and we are looking to expand our team.

    We are looking for day & evening staff to work the following shift times:-

  • Contracted Shift 1: 7am till 3pm
  • Contracted shift 2: 4pm till 9pm
  • Whilst it would be helpful if you had experience of cleaning within a domestic or commercial environment, full induction and ongoing training will be provided. There is also the opportunity of further training and development.

    Main duties of the job

    General tasks

  • Clean/dry mop floors, spot clean floors and remove spillages.
  • High and low dusting
  • Damp dusting furniture, fixtures, fittings and ledges.
  • High frequency touchpoint cleans
  • Spot clean internal glass as necessary.
  • Clean Telephones
  • Clean wash hand basins, sinks, showers, WC's and fittings. Replenish supplies
  • Clean and refill soap dispensers and paper towel holders.
  • Collect and dispose of rubbish, clean bins
  • Assist with the serving of patient meals and making of patient drinks.
  • Routine curtain changes
  • Clean domestic equipment and storage areas
  • General tasks with further training

  • Use polishing/scrubbing machines for maintenance of hard floors
  • Use extraction machine for carpet/upholstery cleaning
  • Use steam cleaners as required
  • Use ride on cleaning equipment; sweeper, scrubber dryer, burnisher

    Education & Qualification

    Essential

  • Educated to Level 1 or equivalent experience.
  • Experience & Knowledge

    Essential

  • Understanding of National Standard of Cleanliness
  • Awareness of NHS Colour Coding procedure
  • Good knowledge of cleaning methods and procedures
  • COSHH and Health and Safety legislation knowledge.
  • Desirable

  • Awareness of PLACE Inspections
  • Previous NHS cleaning experience
  • Skills & Abilities

    Essential

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills (written & verbal).
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good Customer Care skills
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines
  • Displays an understanding of the importance of confidentiality.
  • Able to use cleaning tools and assemble/dismantle cleaning equipment
  • Able to bend, stretch and lift items and push/move equipment and furniture ensuring correct manual handling techniques are followed.
