    Senior Mechanical Engineer - Bedfordshire - £50k - £60k + Bens

    We are looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer / Principal Mechanical Engineer to join a well-established engineering R&D company based in Bedfordshire. The company is focusing on developing brand new disruptive technology which are helping to revolutionise high precision engineering companies in industries such as Aerospace, Space, Defence, Automotive, etc.

    They are now looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer with knowledge of modern manufacturing techniques and excellent attention to detail to be involved in working on a range of special purpose machinery as well as repair, refurbishment, and process improvement.

    The successful candidate will understand the design of existing plant, design and implement new mechanical elements/machinery/test, introducing new solutions to the existing system, will be dealing with various rotating machines, hydraulic / pneumatic /cooling systems, air drying and lubrication systems, mechanical structures, heat pumps and water treatment systems.

    Due to the nature of the work the successful candidate will need to satisfy security clearance requirements – including the last 5 years continual UK residency.

    Senior Mechanical Engineer`s requirements:

    • At least 5 years of recent and relevant experience
    • Good knowledge of electrical and mechanical engineering procedures, including application of formal design control, change procedures and testing processes, excellent numerical and analytical skills, appreciation of continuous improvement.
    • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related subject is desirable.
    • Understanding of industrial machinery such as hydraulic power units, air compressors, and other rotating machines.
    • Experience in 2D and 3D CAD systems, preferably CATIA V5 / Matlab.
    • Experience in load and stress calculations, fluid flow and thermodynamics.
    • Strong problem solving and excellent time management skills, excellent communication skills.

    Location: Bedfordshire (commutable from Bedford, St. Neots, Luton, Royston, Milton Keynes, Cambridge etc.)
