Job Summary
- To support the Capital Accountant in reconciling and interpreting financial management information in relation to schemes on the Trust's capital programme to allow timely and accurate monitoring of expenditure, income and cash flow.
- To support the preparation of financial information and analyses, as required for completion the Trust's in year reporting, Annual Financial Statements and Capital Charge Estimates. To produce and reconcile information from the Asset Register to assistin the production of financial returns, projections and accounting statements.
- To support the Capital Accountant in undertaking the annual asset verification exercise, and periodic revaluation exercises, ensuring outcomes are accurately reflected on the Trust's fixed asset register.
- To coordinate the necessary activities required to ensure VAT adjustments in relation to the Trust's Capital Programme are accurate, valid and timely.
- To provide financial analyses and planning information to support the Trust Medical Devices Management Group and the Capital Accountant in the delivery and management of equipment capital ringfenced budget allocations.
- To support the Capital Accountant in undertaking Value For Money option appraisals on proposed investments, as delegated by the Capital Accountant.
- To support the full range of Financial Management services and advice to the Estates and Informatics Directorates as required.
- Deputise, as appropriate, for the Capital Accountant on all Capital or revenue Directorate based financial planning and management topics.
Experience, Skills and Education
- AAT qualified orCCAB/CIMA Part qualified
- Sufficient recent and relevant experience across a Capital Accounting Function and Management Accounting Function.
- Experience of manipulating/ interrogating ledger and information systems.
- Demonstrably good IT skills including Advanced Excel skills
- Knowledge of finance and accounting practices, procedures and policies particularly pertinent to the NHS including legislation
- Staff supervision experience
- Knowledge & understanding of VAT regime as applicable to NHS services.
- Knowledge & understanding of NHS tender and value for money assessment processes
