Head of Portfolio Management - Real Estate Finance

The Bank:


An established, growing, stable and successful challenger bank who focus on business and personal finance in a small number of carefully chosen markets.


Job Purpose:


To proactively manage the division's drawn large loan book of residential and semi-commercial property investment loans with the primary objective of ensuring that loan status and performance is tracked on a regular basis and that all issues are addressedin a timely and appropriate manner.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Manage a portfolio of the divisions largest counterparty exposures, being the daytoday relationship management contact for these connections.
  • Manage a team of Portfolio Managers, with ultimate responsibility for the wider large loan portfolio.
  • Undertake annual client and property site visits in line with agreed bank policies.
  • Ensure the portfolio performs in line with all required covenants, revaluation and other credit metrics as required.
  • Refer as appropriate distressed cases to the Business Support Team alongside detailed Trigger Reports detailing issues with the relationship.
  • Attend required committees and forum within the bank and division to report on the portfolio management business.
  • Work with the Head of Credit, Head of Underwriting and other key stakeholders to improve the overall underwriting and annual review process and quality through 'lessonslearned'.
  • Reporting to management and flagging potential issues/problems.
  • Keeping accurate records, maintaining portfolio monitoring systems and preparing regular portfolio reports and reviews.

Experience Required:


  • Broad and deep experience of all aspects of residential and semicommercial investment lending with a particular focus, expertise and enthusiasm for relationship and credit management.

Competencies:


  • Team player with excellent communication skills, flexibility & adaptability.
  • Keen understanding of and appreciation of UK property market trends and the built environment.
  • Proven experience in managing large and/or complex real estate investment loan borrower relationships to proactively identify and anticipate client needs.
  • Leaderships skills with the ability to manage development and performance in a highperforming team.
  • Highly literate with the ability to write clear, concise, incisive reports.
  • Highly numerate with strong analytical skills and close attention to detail.
