Financial Controller - Charity / Housing - 4-day week (May consider Full-time as well) - Central London - £32.5k to £33.

A charitable organisation, that offers a housing support service, is looking to expand its finance team, by recruiting a part-time Financial Controller, working 4-days a week.

The purpose of the Financial Controller will be to prepare Financial Statementsand prepare consolidated accounts.

The Financial Controller will also manage balance sheet reconciliations, maintain the fixed asset register, develop a quality assurance framework for the finance department, and to cover for the Finance Manager and SubsidiariesFinancial Controller when required.


SALARY ETC:

- £41,700pa pro-rata, actual salary will be £33,400pa for 4-day week (They would consider full-time as well). Enhanced holidays of 33 days pro-rata + good pension + other benefits.

  • 28 hours per week (excluding lunch break), over 4days.

REQUIREMENTS:


  • Experience of preparing Financial Statements, preferably under SORP (Charitable Accounts) or for a Registered Social Landlord, or similar.
  • Knowledge of working within the charity or social housing sector
  • Experience of reconciling balance sheet accounts, and managing month end processes
  • Experience working with non
- financial budget holders

  • Hold an accounting qualification, or be qualified by experience
  • Understanding of the principals of reconciling accounting balances to supporting information, such as bank statements, cash counts, debtors' listings, etc.
  • Knowledge of accounting systems

DUTIES TO INCLUDE:


  • Prepare Financial Statements and liaise with the auditors and produce Year End timetable
  • Work with the Finance Manager to coordinate and manage the YE timetable and schedules
  • Produce Financial Statements on an accurate and timely basis to COO and auditors
  • Attend all board and audit meetings as and when required
  • Maintain balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring that the monthly balance sheet reconciliation process is in place and effective
  • Investigate and resolve any issues in the balance sheet accounts
  • Prepare the Balance Sheet for the Financial Statements and for COO review
  • Maintain fixed asset register, by ensuring the fixed asset register is up to date and accurate
  • Prepare and enter monthly depreciation journals
  • Ensure component accounting is correct for capital assets
  • Develop quality assurance framework for the Finance Department by reviewing and controlling existing policies and procedures in finance
  • Recognise key control processes and liaise with internal audit
  • Support the charity with local council taxes and rates
  • Cover for Finance Manager and other Financial Controller as required
  • File annual returns for Companies House and Charities Commission
  • Help with any other ad hoc financial issues
