    Job summary

    Anexciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Pharmacist tojoin our dynamic Clinical Pharmacy team at South Tyneside and Sunderland NHSFoundation Trust (STSFT) as Divisional Lead Pharmacist for Family Care andCommunity Services.

    As a Divisional Lead Pharmacist, youwill support the Chief Pharmacist and Associate Chief Pharmacist in leading theprovision, management and strategic development of high quality, innovative andeffective clinical pharmacy service within Family Care and Community in linewith objectives and resources will co-ordinate the work of the Directorate Lead and Advanced PractitionerPharmacists within their Divisions ensuring the effective delivery of theClinical Pharmacy service, governance and safety, patient care, financial andhealth economy wide objectives.

    The post holder is responsible to the Associate Chief Pharmacist for ClinicalServices for the provision of expert advice in clinical pharmacy servicedelivery to the Divisional Directors, Clinical Directors, CG Leads andDivisional Finance Managers.

    STSFT benefits from fullelectronic prescribing with decision support, automated dispensaries andextensive seven day clinical services to enhance the patients experience ofcare by improving the quality, safety and effectiveness of their medicinesutilisation. As part of this investment our nationally recognisedpharmacist-led Integrated Medicines Management Scheme has been expanded to allacute areas.

    Main duties of the job

    As a Divisional Lead Pharmacistfor Family Care and Community Services, you will be responsible for theprovision of a high-quality patient focused clinical pharmacy serviceto Maternity Services, Paediatrics, Neonates andCommunity Servicesthroughout the will work withDivisional Lead Pharmacist colleagues to further develop and lead the wellrespected and established Clinical Pharmacy Service ensuring consistent Trustwide deliveryin line with the Trust'sClinical Governance agenda.

    You will have evidence ofsignificant experience as a senior hospital pharmacist within the NHS, withexperience of strategically developing pharmacy services and deliveringtransformational change. You will demonstrate experience of successfulmanagement of large groups of staff, evidence of leadership skills, businessplanning, service innovation, critical thinking and successful will be responsible for ensuring within theDirectorates the team are identifying new developments and horizon scanning toassist divisions in service planning along with delivering efficiency savingsand cost improvement plans across your sphere of responsibility.

    You will have a post-graduatequalification to diploma level and well-developed clinical pharmacy skills preferablywith an independent prescribing qualification.

    The Pharmacy Service operates aseven day Clinical Pharmacy Service with routine support of both juniorpharmacists and integrated medicines management technicians.

    Job responsibilities

    The Divisional Lead supports the Chief Pharmacist and Associate Chief Pharmacists in leading the provision, management and strategic development of high quality, innovative and effective clinical pharmacy services within a Clinical Division in line with the objectives and resources agreed. They will co-ordinate the work of the Directorate Lead and Advanced Practitioner pharmacists within their Divisional ensuring the meet the pharmacy service delivery, governance and safety, patient care, financial and health economy wide objectives.The postholder may be required to cover more than one Division, undertake a lead role in relation to Pharmaceutical Education and/or undertake the Directorate CG Role. Responsibilities can be adjusted in line with the postholders contracted hours with thesupport of other pharmacists or through provision of a direct patient care role.

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • MPharm [Masters degree] or equivalent Batchelors degree
  • Registered Pharmacist with General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Post graduate qualification in clinical pharmacy
  • Desirable

  • Membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
  • Research Qualification
  • Independent prescribing qualification
  • Physical Skills

  • Must be able to meet the travel requirements of the post

  • Significant experience as a senior hospital pharmacist within the NHS
