    Job Description

    The Contracts Manager role within a GKR Business Unit, is a position required to help drive efficiencies, increase production and ensure innovative and industry leading Health and Safety practices are continually adhered to on site.

    It is a position of responsibility and you will be reporting directly to the Business Unit lead. You will assist in building and retaining a team with capabilities in line with the operational demands of each project and ensure that on-going leadership maintains a high level of morale, motivation and commitment across all staff for the duration of all projects.

    Job Description

    • Ensure that work is allocated according to programme needs and that the project team are capable and supported in their responsibilities.
    • Assist in allocating labour according to job costing constraints and budgeted labour.
    • Maintain a culture of high morale and psychological safety. Positively supporting and encouraging open communication.
    • Ensure that performance of all labour is managed and monitored for productivity, behaviour and safety performance.
    • To maintain a safe working strategy across all projects.
    • Write Method Statements and Risk Assessments as needed.
    • Learn to use Aconex and other site documentation programmes to adhere to customers and contractual requirements. Undertake regular reviews of documentation.
    • To ensure Scaffold Engineering Designs are complied with as and when necessary.
    • Progression to be first line of communication with clients in respect of programming of resource.
    • Identify staff training needs and liaise with People Operations to ensure training is up to date.
    • Oversee logistics to ensure that all project's logistics needs are met in terms of materials and deliveries. Ensure a good working relationship is maintained with GKR Yard Management.
    • Ensures that scaffolding stock across all sites is stored safely and securely and is accounted for.
    • Ensure housekeeping and safety standards are maintained as per GKR Scaffolding Safety Policy.
    • Ensure all work is completed on time and to budget.
    • Ensure all works that are outside of scope are instructed by the clients and that relevant documentation and evidence of instructed works is maintained (site instructions, Additional works instructions, Handing Over Certificates etc.)
    • Learn to price variations on projects prior to valuation dates.
    • Put short and medium-term plans in place with PMs to manage works.
    • To mentor Project Managers and Project Supervisors to ensure that work is organised effectively, and all areas of responsibility are managed well
    • Establishing excellent working relationships with clients, ensuring that day-to-day engagement is maintained.
    • Identifying opportunities to grow business from client relationships.
    • To ensure that all health and safety standards are maintained, and that related documentation is managed to a high level.
    • Ensure a duty of care to all employees on the project – maintaining a safe working environment and supporting the mental health and wellbeing of all staff.
    • To work with the Health & Safety team to investigate any H&S incidents and have a strong relationship on site with the H&S Team.
    • To liaise with Business Unit Lead and People Operations for investigatory purposes, including the disciplinary processes where deemed appropriate by the People Operations Manager.
    • To provide cover for members of the management team during holidays and sickness.
    • Conduct regular quality checks on all site documentation to ensure it is consistent with expectations and safety policies, and departmental standards, procedures and guidelines.
    • Taking responsibility for own personal development, in line with agreed annual objectives where appropriate and agreed.
    • Hosting at least one Toolbox Talk per month to each site team.
