    General TA

    New Directions is currently recruiting for a number of Teaching Assistants to work with our Primary/Secondary schools in the Blackwood area. There are multiple positions available, including long term and part time, day to day supply.

    You will be expected to help the teacher in preparing the classroom for lessons. This may involve a variety of activities such as photocopying worksheets, setting up art equipment, weighing out ingredients, preparing computers, rearranging the furniture for a particular activity and so on. The right candidate should be able to provide a creative and exciting learning environment whereby pupils are motivated and encouraged to show ambition, to maximise their potential, and to embrace all aspects of school life to develop a wide-ranging skill set.

    Job Requirements include:

    • A passion for raising student expectations and achievements
    • The ability to build strong working relationships with staff and pupils
    • The ability to remain up to date with educational developments and changes whilst undertaking the role
    • Eligible to work in the UK
    • In possession of a clear DBS with the update service and registered with the EWC

    Job Specification

    As a teaching assistant you'll be expected to:

    • Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the head teacher, ALNCO and class teachers
    • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Programmes (IEP) for students and help monitor their progress
    • Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities
    • Assist class teachers with maintaining student records
    • Support students with emotional or behavioural problems and help develop their social skills
