    Description

    Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust is continuing its digital and clinical transformation journey that will change the way in which we deliver care across Cornwall, the Isles of Scilly, and the South West Peninsula.

    eCare, the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) Programme will underpin everything we do for our patients, our people, and our communities.

    The Digital Training Deputy Manager will report to the Digital Training Manager.

    You will be part of a Training Team with approximately 20 staff who will be training, educating and coaching staff on the digital systems across Cornwall.

    This role will provide managerial resource to the team and help manage and deliver business as usual and eCare training.


    Secondments from existing Trust employees into this fixed term role are welcomed and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.


    Applicants should expect to be primarily office based at the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Treliske site, Truro but travel to other sites may be necessary.

    The post holder will be a member of the Digital Training Team and will provide training, education and coaching to staff using clinical and application systems used within the

    Cornwall Health Community:
    To oversee and contribute to the creation and improvement of training materials such as eLearning, courses and user guides used to deliver and support flexible training solutions

    Manage a small team within the Digital Training Team

    Support other members of the integration team in a project support and testing role

    Plan, design and organise the training aspects of the clinical, business and project related work


    The Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (RCHT) is the main provider of acute and specialist care services in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

    We are a teaching hospital in partnership with the University of Exeter Medical School, University of Plymouth School of Nursing and Midwifery, and Peninsula Dental School.


    The Knowledge Spa on the Royal Cornwall Hospital site is the base for medical and nursing as well as ongoing education for health professions in clinical and non-clinical roles.


    Keeping at the forefront of medical advances, we are continually developing our clinical services as well as our facilities and are committed to maximising the range of specialist care that can be offered locally.

    The trainer will have excellent knowledge and extensive use of both clinical patient administration systems and Microsoft Office products.

    Working with members of the training team, the successful candidate will be delivering quality, consistent and professional IT training to staff in both clinical and non-clinical applications.

    You will also be responsible for designing training plans, course support materials, end user guides, as well as developing innovative ways of delivery and engaging learners.

    You will also be responsible for managing a section of the training team.

    Educated to Degree level with specialist knowledge and expertise in the area of digital training or demonstrates equivalent significant experience working in this area.

    Cert-Ed qualification or equivalent teacher/trainer qualification or demonstrates equivalent significant experience in delivering training.

    Management/ Supervisory qualification

    Significant experience in delivering training.
    Experience of preparing classrooms and equipment before delivery of any training.

    Experience of communication at all levels across all organisations Knowledge and application of Human Resources Policies to be able to provide first line support to staff.


    Experience of writing training materials, lesson planning and course development.
    Awareness of digital issues in the NHS

    Extensive knowledge of the computer-based systems in use across the Cornwall Health Community, this includes clinical, business and administrative systems.

    Understanding of the information needs of clinical staff and the application of information to support their day-to-day role within a patient care environment.

    Substantial MS Windows and MS Office specialist knowledge or good MS Office skills and substantial specialist knowledge of health-related software such as Unit 4, PAS, Strata, Maxims.

    Excellent presentation, planning and communication skills.
    NHS experience, MS Office, NHS Mail, project management skills, experience of e-learning development.

    Training
    Willing to undertake training and IT related study as required.
    Willing to learn to deliver new training courses and software programmes as required.
    Mandatory Training

    Occasional unpleasant conditions if training is taking place in the workplace such as on the ward.
    Must be prepared to work outside normal office hours including evenings and weekends as required.
    Willing to work at all training sites throughout Cornwall.
    Willing to travel, attend training and occasionally work outside of the Cornwall Health Community as required.
    Car driver with full UK driving licence and willing to drive to deliver training throughout the Health Community

    Patient, calm, organised, flexible, adaptable, team player, able to think on their own feet in a classroom situation.
    Has the freedom to decide how agreed objectives are managed, working within broad professional policies

    Able to work unsupervised, able to make decisions related to classroom management and course delivery, able to work accurately in often distracting environments.
