    About the role

    We have a brand new role for a Logistics & Scheduling Manager to join us at our Packaging facility in Kettering as part of our Sheet Feeding operation.

    This position is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to continue developing their management and data analysis skills in a FTSE 100 organisation, as well as ensuring that the team and our transport providers adhere to our high safety and quality standards.

    The primary focus of this role is to ensure that we are delivering our products to our customers in the most efficient way in both the UK and Europe.

    This would involve daily analysis of our 3rd party logistics providers, ensuring that we are optimising transport operations, reviewing backhaul opportunities & revenue, efficient load building and routing, verifying individual charges per load, identifying opportunities for consolidated deliveries and improved load fill, effective use of sub-contractors and aligning transport costs to pricing within our ERP system.

    You would be working with pallet suppliers to negotiate on pricing and supply, maintaining an organised system so that the site is auditable, and analysing a number of KPIs.

    You'll use your experience and curiosity to find more efficient ways of managing transport and purchasing so that we can continuously improve our financial and customer service.

    This role will also be responsible for ensuring that the Kettering site team and our transport providers adhere to our high safety standards, with responsibility for day to day activities in the goods in, reel store, and finished good despatch areas.

    Health and safety is the number one priority at DS Smith sites, so you'd be accountable for ensuring that our team are safe at work and following company policies at all times.

    You would work with the team to put effective processes in place that allow products to flow in and out of the loading areas efficiently.

    About you
    Previous experience in a transport planning/haulage environment
    Strong IT literacy - Excel and SAP will be used daily in this role
    Good people management skills
    Excellent knowledge of data analysis
    Ability to build relationships and work well with colleagues around the site
    Great stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to negotiate new agreements with suppliers
