    Commercial Banking - Senior Commercial Banking Executive (REF)

    *** This role is open to internal candidates from the Arbuthnot Latham Commercial Banking teams only***

    • The Senior Commercial Banking Executive (SCBE) will primarily focus on line managing, developing and leading the Commercial Banking Executives (CBE) and distributing and controlling their workflow, whilst working closely with the department Director to ensure efficient and effective operational controls within a strong cultural environment.
    • The SCBE will also directly support the Commercial Bankers (CB) with client acquisition/retention and other operational requests where required. The SCBE will act as a proxy for the CB, representing them in meetings or communications, whist also overseeing the CBE's in the same way. The SCBE will engage in direct client contact and work where required.
    • Where applicable, to place the interests of customers at the centre of all activities, act in a way that is consistent with achieving good outcomes for consumers; and
    • to comply with the FCA and PRA's Conduct Rules.
    Key Responsibilities:

    Client service and Sales support

    • Main point of contact and accountability for clients with respect to their day-to-day banking requirements where applicable.
    • Building and monitoring client relationships through oneself and the team
    • Supporting Bankers in developing, growing, and retaining their portfolio of Clients, ensuring a quality of service is provided at all times, through oneself and the team.
    • Competent at identifying new sales opportunities or training the team to this regard where required.
    • Ensuring proactive client calls are completed in the team and ensuring CBs follow up on all client leads and facilitate client meetings.
    • Preparing full client briefs and research for bankers.
    • Managing account maintenance procedures – including account opening and account closing.
    • Initiating, discussing, and completing Credit Applications on behalf of Bankers through the team and oneself where applicable.
    • Monitoring the return of Facility letters, and completion of LMF/interest rate/fee forms. (where applicable) with the team.
    • Monitoring, preparing and/or carrying out annual credit reviews, ensuring they are completed in a timely manner, ahead of the expiry/due date. (where applicable) across the CB population the team supports.
    • Completing daily reports including DLT, CVR, RRPR and Broken limits across the CB's.
    • Monitoring, preparing and/or completing annual KYC reviews – maintaining client files in the process, to ensure they are completed in timely manner ahead of the due date across the CB's.
    • Monitoring upcoming loan reports on a weekly basis contacting clients where necessary for covering funds. (where applicable)
    • Reviewing the maturing deposits report, liaising with banker/client where appropriate to send new rate sheets.
    • Monitoring complaints log to ensure complaint procedures are followed and timescales adhered to.
    • Ensuring Financial Information is monitored where required & received within the correct timescales.Covenants tested where applicable.
    • Developing the team to complete onboarding forms for new to Bank clients when visiting prospects and to manage the onboarding process.
    • Setting and managing the team to Service level agreements to Bankers to ensure a seamless client experience.

    Team Management

    • Managing, coaching, developing and motivating a team of CBEs to exceed and deliver CB and client requests whilst ensuring unwavering commitment to client service.
    • Being organised and able to perform individual workflow priorities as well as managing/overseeing the workflow of the CBE's.
    • Day to day performance management of CBE direct reports.
    • Conducting performance reviews for CBE direct reports including monthly 1:1's, mid-year, and end of year reviews.
    • Managing initial performance issues, escalating longer term complex issues where appropriate.
    • Taking responsibility for direct reports risk and regulatory performance whilst promoting a team risk culture.
    • Managing and working with HR in respect of personnel changes within the team, such as changes to contracts.
    • Running workflow meetings to delegate and share workload amongst the team.
    Team General Administration
    • Preparing client communications
    • Preparing account opening forms
    • Responsible for keeping client records updated
    • Instigating and maintaining client files
    Team Commercial Banker's organisation
    • Organising, maintaining, and coordinating diaries for the Bankers (including future planning of meetings, meeting preparation, planning for issues)
    • Organising meeting schedules for Bankers and proactively arranging client meetings for the Bankers in relation to credit, KYC and other relevant reviews
    Team Supporting the Bank's change and innovation agenda
    • Completing user acceptance testing of technology updates, new functionality and systems used in front office as required.
    • Providing input to change projects to give ideas and requirements as appropriate.
    • Taking on champion roles and encouraging direct reports to do the same.
    Risk
    • Completing compliance regulatory exams where appropriate, adhering to both legal and regulatory requirements
    • Responsible for managing risks inherent to the role by diligently observing internal policies and procedures.

    Person Specification

    Knowledge/ Experience/Skills:

    • Ability to act in a supervisory / line management capacity.
      • Significant experience in Client Facing Roles with a proven ability to provide a very high level of service and, always, keeping the client at the heart of everything we do.
    • Proven Commercial banking experience supporting a Commercial Banking business.
    • A thorough understanding of Commercial segment and market
    • Detailed and demonstrable technical knowledge around all areas of Lending (where applicable)
    • Detailed knowledge of regulatory requirements covering money laundering and criminal activity
    • Interest in financial markets
    • Multi-tasking capability
    • Proven ability to work under pressure with a demanding and heavy workload.
    • A good understanding of Banking Systems and be IT literate, and a high understanding of Microsoft Office
    • Strong written and verbal communications skills are essential for this role.
    • Excellent time management and organisational skills
