Design Manager

Corby

Hours - Monday to Friday Full Time 08:30-17:00

Salary £40-50k


Our Corby based client manufacture products to the construction sector, and due to sustained growth, they are looking to add an experienced Design Manager to the team to work on projects and develop in-house standards to improve efficiency by standardisation.


This position will be based at their HQ in Corby and you will be reporting directly to the Operations Manager.

The role offers the opportunity to form a department that will reflect your efforts and give you the opportunity to have full development goingforwards, with direct reports working for you within the offices in Corby and also external contractors.

Role / Responsibilities

  • Liaise with inhouse teams and communicate with clients and structural engineers to identify and mitigate any technical issues to be able to develop designs to meet schedules and financial constraints
  • Manage an internal team of five with an external resource of twelve.
  • Oversee and scheduling of design works into the company program for timely and efficient issue to manufacturing.
  • Ensure accuracy of production issue packs.
  • Management of project BIM requirements
  • Coordinate site surveys where required
  • Attend client DTM's if required.
  • Assistance with the design departments development of company product design standards
  • General Design Office administration roles where required
  • Min 5 years design experience as a manager or coordinator, preferably in fabrication/structural steel.
  • Experience of architectural feature stairs would be an advantage
  • An understanding of relevant BS & Euro specifications and design regulations within the industry
  • Experience of BIM level
  • Experience in Tekla Structures (or similar) is key however training would be available if required
  • Experience in AutoCAD 2D
  • Ability to adapt to change
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills needed to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to communicate (verbal and written) with clients/architects/structural engineers/subcontractors and inhouse management teams
  • Be able to work closely with Contract Managers to deliver projects to schedule and cost
  • Willing to embrace a strong 'TEAM' ethos of the company
