The Team
The Group Finance division has oversight of the whole of ITV.

The Role


We have a new opportunity for an experienced Head of Technical Accounting to join our Group Finance team on a permanent basis in either Manchester or London.


Key responsibilities:


Accounting Policies

  • Perform technical accounting analysis including preparing technical accounting papers.
  • Own the Group Accounting Policy manual, ensuring this is up to date and used to drive standardisation of accounting treatment across the Group.

External Reporting and Audit

  • Play a key role in the drafting of the Interim and Annual reports, contributing to financial statements, finance review, financial analyst slides and Audit Committee papers.
  • Own the narrative on accounting policies, risks, estimates and key judgements in the annual report and accounts.
  • Ownership of technical accounting papers and resolution of accounting issues arising during the audit.
  • Lead on defining the correct accounting treatment for transactions, key contracts, new business models and other significant events, including accounting papers and journals.

Accounting Excellence

  • Assist the Head of Group Consolidation and Financial Controllers on adhoc technical accounting queries / transactions.
  • Oversee regular accounting and reporting updates for the wider Finance team.
  • Share accounting expertise with the group, including reviewing local accounting judgements, and providing input and advice on group accounting to Financial Controllers in M&E and Studios and local Controllers across the Group.
  • Provide input into the implementation of new Finance systems and processes to ensure the configuration results in the correct accounting outcome.

Minimum criteria

  • ACA/ACCA (or equivalent) qualified accountant with proven experience within a Financial Controllership team.
  • Experience of working with listed companies either through audit, a secondment or industry.
  • Accounting knowledge of both IFRS and UK GAAP across all areas and a specific understanding of: Business Combinations, Consolidation accounting, Joint Arrangements, Revenue recognition, Sharebased payments and Employee Benefits.

Key criteria

  • Media industry knowledge and experience either through audit or industry is desirable.
  • The ability to prioritise when dealing with a high volume of information requests and queries.
  • Experience in delivering training or presenting to groups of peers is desirable.
  • Building and developing relationships within the finance community.
