What we're looking for

  • To support clients across the global energy sector (oil and gas, petrochemicals, renewables, storage and transportation, power) in their efforts to deliver successful projects and to optimize their operations.
  • On projects, the role will be to advise and support the client in their concept development, assurance, governance, and execution processes, focusing on protecting the client's project target value and preventing value erosion throughout the project lifecycle.
  • In operations, the role will be focused on helping the client to optimize their production, maintenance, asset integrity, HSE, and reliability.
  • The common theme for services in both projects and operations is helping the client to manage risk avoiding and mitigating threats and exploiting opportunities.
  • The role holder will collaborate with a range of specialists in LR on a broad range of activities to build on LR's technical excellence and translate this into commercial and strategic insights for our clients. The role will entail developing safe and sustainable solutions to clients at a senior and strategic level, combining your expertise and industry understanding with your ability to engage with its stakeholders towards, helping clients face up to their key challenges.

The role

  • Delivering high quality projects/operations advisory services to create client value
  • Producing required inputs within the agreed parameters in a defined format including contract terms and conditions
  • Project management of client engagements including contract administration, commercial management, progress measurement and reporting
  • Leading project teams, as required
  • Developing prospects and opportunities in the market that are aligned to the strategy of LR, to help the growth and development of the advisory services business
  • Working with both internal and external stakeholders to develop bespoke solutions to address client challenges
  • Developing value propositions, marketing material and proposals
  • Presenting and discussing propositions, proposals and deliverable with clients at a senior level
  • Suggesting improvements to service delivery through changes to processes or work scope such that it leads to improvements in effectiveness and efficiency, where applicable
  • Supporting the delivery of wider consulting projects as necessary
  • Conducting activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards
  • Pursuing Continuous Professional Development and maintaining a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness
  • Mentoring/coaching colleagues to ensure effective experience/knowledge transfer, as appropriate
  • Maintaining strong internal and external networks

What you bring

  • Minimum Bachelor Degree from a recognised university in engineering, a relevant science or equivalent course (Masters Degree in a relevant field is an advantage)
  • Experience of capital projects and/or operations in the energy industries in (or a combination of) engineering, project management, risk management, HSE management, process safety, construction, commissioning, asset integrity, decommissioning, regulatory compliance
  • Minimum 10 years' industry experience (oil & gas, renewables, petrochemical). Blend of experience in an energy operator or consulting in energy industries is highly preferred.
  • Excellent command (written and oral) of the English language
  • Experience of preparing high quality and substantial technical reports
  • Computer literacy with Microsoft products including Excel, Word and Power Point
  • Ability to plan, handle effectively multiple priorities and drive high quality results
  • Ability to present ideas and concepts to internal and external stakeholders across levels
  • Flexibility, adaptability and willingness to take on new challenges and work from other LR or client office locations
  • Chartered/Professional Engineer, Certified Project Management Professional, or equivalent (preferred)
  • Membership of an appropriate professional institution
  • Experience of facilitating workshops
  • Significant experience of dealing with a range of project/industry stakeholders such as PMCs, EPC contractors, technology providers, financers, insurers, regulators etc.
  • Experience of industry project management tools such as MS Project, Primavera, and/or industry standard risk management software, and/or industry standard asset management tools
