The corporate Nursing and Midwifery Workforce and Education Team are looking for a committed, experienced nurse who can demonstrate strong clinical leadership skills, and the ability to communicate effectively across multi-professional boundaries, demonstrating care and compassion.

    As part of our recruitment strategy we are delighted to have welcomed internationally-educated nurses and midwives to the Trust. This role ensures our IENs/IEMs are fully supported during the recruitment and onboarding stages and, in their first 12 months, you will lead on the programme of pastoral care across the Trust. You will work with the divisions to support the integration of our new recruits into their clinical teams, helping them to develop confidence and good working relationships, with opportunities to discuss any concerns.

    Main duties of the job

    You will the SIFE Programme which supports nurses, who are already in the UK, to obtain an NMC registration by completing the OET, Computer Based Test and subsequent Objective Structured Clinical Examination.

    You will contribute to developing new, innovative ways of working, and programmes to support the recruitment and retention of staff.

    We are dedicated to training and developing our nursing and midwifery staff and the successful candidate will work alongside our Matron and Head of Nursing in the Workforce and Education Team to achieve a multi-skilled workforce.

    Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is a large acute hospital Trust in the county of Kent.

    The Trust provides a full range of general hospital services and some areas of specialist complex care to around 760,000 people living in the south part of West Kent and the north part of East Sussex.

    The Trust's core catchment areas are Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells and their surrounding boroughs. We work from two main clinical sites: Maidstone Hospital and Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury. Tunbridge Wells Hospital opened in 2011 and provides single rooms with en-suites for all in-patients – the first of its kind in the country.

    We employ more than 7,000 full and part-time staff in a huge range of clinical and non-clinical roles across both of our hospital sites.

    Qualifications

    Essential criteria

  • Master's degree or equivalent experience/qualification.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development in relevant area of speciality supplemented by specialist clinical, managerial training and CPD
  • Mentorship or Practice Assessor qualification.
  • Management qualification or equivalent experience
  • RN1/ RN2/ RN12 or RN Child Registered Nurse on the NMC register. To hold the appropriate level for the area of speciality.
  • Desirable criteria

  • LEO / Equivalent Leadership Training
  • Masters Degree
  • NVQ Assessors Course
  • To hold a range of management courses.

  • Experience/Knowledge

    Essential criteria

  • Experience of managing an area or initiative; including management of rotas, resources, budgets and staff.
  • Experience in staff / practice development including undertaking appraisals and personal development plans.
  • Experience of audit / research-based nursing practice.
  • Experience of resource management.
  • Experience of Clinical Supervision.

  • Ability to actively participate in and develop initiatives from the NHS Plan.
