Description
Are you an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer with a background in structural analysis and a broad knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals to design fabricated structures and mechanical components?The Role:
You will be required to solve a variety of problems, which may involve plant layout optimization, packaging of plant equipment, high cycle fatigue, thermal stress, post-yield behaviour, high temperature creep, flow maldistribution, fluidization, solids handling.
Working as part of a cross-functional research, engineering & manufacturing team, designing from concept to completing process equipment, system componentsand manufacturing systems.
In addition to analysis and testing of new designs, support for fabrication, construction, and project start-up may be required.Other duties include;
- Lead pilotscale test programs, including design of process equipment as well as fatigue and stress analyses.
- Lead mechanical design programs
- Improve manufacturing performanance identifying opportunities for automating operations.
- Design and develop warm/cold vessels, adsorption equipment and distillation column internals for air separation systems
- Perform stress and structural support analysis in support of various technology areas.
- Lead external collaborations with vendors, universities, and test facilities for advancing mechanical & manufacturing capabilities
- Write technical and scientific reports, project proposals, conference papers and presenting at academic and industrial events.
Qualifications:
- Minimum BS in Mechanical Engineering, PhD is preferred, with previous experience performing technical mechanical engineering & design work.
- A Professional Engineer (PE) Certificate a plus but not essential.
- A broad knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals, with strong interpersonal skills.
- The ability to function well in a multidisciplinary team environment. As well as a good track record of safety in a laboratory or plant environment
- This position involves frequent travel within the UK and up to 10% travel to global locations.
