Job Description:

Department


The Central and South Eastern Europe gas desk provides market access to group and third party companies in Central and South Eastern Europe.

It develops and deploys the companies proprietary trading strategy for this market area.

Position purpose


Reporting to the Head of Gas and Power Flow, this role will define and implement the Italian Gas business and group activities.

Main Responsibilities

  • Development of the fundamental analysis models for the Italian Gas business.
  • Development of trading opportunities through quantitative, technical and fundamental analysis.
  • Maintain a detailed knowledge of operation pipeline interconnection and LNG gas storage in Italy.
  • Maintain a detailed knowledge of European gas markets and related commodity markets.
  • Hold a thorough knowledge of all necessary regulatory codes and agreements relevant to the markets.
  • Ensure efficient data capturing both from subscription services and public sources.
  • Closely collaborate with traders, analysts and meteorologists to understand short and longterm forecasts and pricing dynamics.
  • Understand the trading strategies implemented by the senior trader and help manage the strategies.
  • Acquire and maintain understanding and experience of other EDFT gas trading books.
Support those activities and strategies and seek opportunities that will contribute to CSEE gas trading desk targets

  • Understand proprietary trading models and all other fundamental analysis carried out by the desk and actively participate in the development of the analyses and contribute to the ongoing effectiveness of such work.
  • Maintain communication with the participants in the market place which are most likely to affect or influence the company's position.
  • Adhere to the company administrative and front office procedures.
  • Any other duties as directed by your manager among which could be:
  • Spread sheet maintenance
  • Additional analysis
  • Other related projects
  • Position requires flexibility in work hours due to market requirements
Experience required

  • Graduate level in an analyticallybased discipline i.e. finance, maths, economics, science or equivalent experience
  • Prior experience in trading or other front office role would also be beneficial
  • Extensive experience and understanding of working within commodities, preferably with a knowledge of Power
  • Market analysis experience a plus
  • Italian language a benefit
Technical requirements

  • Strong IT skills (advanced Excel and programming skills)
  • Working knowledge of Bloomberg / Reuters useful
