We are looking to appoint a Full Time Teaching Assistant who will work with our pupils in Years 5 to 13, this will include working with some of our SEND pupils and within our Maths department.

JOB PURPOSE
To support the teaching staff and work with other support staff to enhance the development and education of pupils. The role may involve one to one support.

SKILLS AND QUALIFCIATION (Essential, Desirable)

NVQ level 2 or higher qualification - E

Further qualifications up to and including QTS - D

Understanding of the KS3/4 curriculum - E

Evidence of CPD - D

The ability to work with secondary age pupils in Maths - D

Evidence of delivering numeracy strategies to individuals and small groups - D

Competent ICT skills - E

Evidence of using ICT to enhance learning - D

Cheerful, positive and enthusiastic about working with children - E

Proven record of contributing to a successful team - D

An effective communicator with staff and children - E

Evidence of training and experience in supporting pupils with ASD - D

Ability to work well as part of a team - E


PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Using acquired skills, to support and deliver learning activities and contribute to the development of work programmes to facilitate effective teaching and learning.
  • Provide input to the planning and evaluation of learning activities for an individual to enable the teaching staff to make informed decisions when developing their plans.
  • Supervise the activities of individuals and groups both in and out of the classroom (including educational visits) to ensure their safety and facilitate their physical and emotional development in accordance with the school's behaviour management policy.
  • Monitor individual pupils' progress, achievements and development and report these to the teaching staff/line manager to inform decisions taken regarding any Individual Education Plan, Behaviour Plans and Personal Care Programmes for pupils.
  • Liaise with parents and carers in conjunction with the teaching staff to ensure effective communication concerning the pupils' wellbeing.
  • Record pupil information as specified by the teaching staff/line manager to ensure the schools information systems are maintained.
  • Attend to the personal and physical needs of pupils so that their wellbeing is maintained.
  • Prepare and maintain learning resources and ensure that the classroom is kept tidy so that the objectives of the lesson plans are met in a safe learning environment, which complies with relevant health and safety requirements.
  • Display and present the pupils work, under the direction of teaching staff so that it enhances the classroom environment and celebrates achievement.
  • Attend staff and other meetings and participate in staff training development work and staff reviews as required.
Salary is dependant on experience
