The opportunity is within a highly experienced and established London based team which transact over 7000 risks a year and around $80mil of premium.

Their main focuses are to provide best in class solutions and service to their clients and brokers alongside working in a fun and vibrant team environment, which gives everyone the opportunity to learn and gain great experience.


The role:


The War Terrorism and Political Violence team are looking for an entry level applicant to learn underwriting the class 'on the job'.

You will be given the tools and support to quickly increase your responsibility underwriting risks situated across the globe and involving various products, working on various underwriting focussed projects and Hiscox Underwriting Ltd will support you to work towards the ACII qualifications.

The role is an ideal starting point to begin an underwriting career, working with a young team who have great ambitions for their portfolio of business and have been growing and delivering new products to the market for a number of years.

If you are passionate about politics and international relations, you have the skillset to analyse data with good attention to detail and enjoy building influential, business relationships then this role could be perfect for you.


What you'll be doing:

  • Transacting business focussing on 'terrorism only' coverage to begin with and widening the perils as experience and knowledge grows
  • Assisting with managing key broker relationships on a day to day basis
  • Developing technical underwriting skills with unstructured and structured training
  • Providing an excellent service to brokers
  • Opportunity to get involved Hiscox projects

  • A basic understanding of Insurance and what underwriting entails
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately
  • Interpersonal savvy, a flexible working style and the ability to build relationships with various people
  • Analytical capabilities, will need to be able to analyse numbers at a basic level.
  • Strong attention to detail and grammar skills

  • Level qualifications

  • Prior underwriting, broking or underwriting assistant experience
  • A qualification or degree of a global political or international relations nature
  • Speak an additional language
