Age UK are expanding their Legacies Team We have a rare opportunity to join our friendly and supportive team as a
Senior Legacy Officer (Complex cases).

The successful applicant of this newly created role will manage a portfolio of complex estates where Age UK is named as a beneficiary.


This is a highly skilled and rewarding role, where you will be proactively managing a contentious and complex legacy caseload and identifying and handling potential claims, requiring excellent communication skills and attention to detail.

You will also be responsible for monitoring and expediting the collection of legacy income.

Working alongside external solicitors you will achieve a pragmatic solution where possible and refer matters to the Senior Legacy Manager where required to ensureall reputational risks to Age UK are proactively managed.

Working closely with the Senior Legacy Manager you will ensure that the department functions professionally and efficiently.


This is a hybrid role, a blend of home based and office working. Our office for this opportunity is in London and you would be expected to attend the office at least twice a month.

Must haves:


  • Extensive experience of different types of Contentious Cases including claims relating to (but not limited to) Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependents) Act 1975, Capacity, Validity of Will, Undue Influence, Proprietary Estoppel and Fraud.
  • Track record of work in relation to complex charity legacy case management or equivalent areas of specialism in the legal sector.
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering solutions focussed outcomes.
  • Significant understanding of the legal frameworks relating to the law of Wills and Succession (to include Contentious Probate claims) in England and Wales, Scotland, the EU and other jurisdictions.
  • Ability to manage a variable workload of legacy cases involving contentious and noncontentious cases and to allocate resources appropriately.
