Our Client

Our client is the UK stand-alone subsidiary of a world leading heavy industries manufacturer in their field of engineering and technology.

The business accounts for 14 per cent of the global organisation which has annual sales revenues of over $15 billion fromaround over 96 subsidiaries and with 35,000 employees globally.

That company has sites in Japan, USA, India, Korea, and China, in addition to Plymouth, where the factory manufactures hydraulic motors, axial piston pumps and other hydraulic components withthe majority of these being exported all over the world.

As Sales Manager you will be responsible for expanding growth within current market sectors and growing our client's distribution partners throughout the UK & Europe via a multichannel model looking at Evaluate - Land - Expand & profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning and attending appropriate customer visits to meet agreed targets
  • Map and plan distribution expansion forecast & pipeline.
  • Keeping up to date with market competitors
  • Report on the progress on the development of the target accounts
  • Take corrective actions where possible to recover lost business
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints
  • Keep up to date with market trends and competitor performance
  • To lead business generation within defined parameters and within agreed levels of revenue & profitability
  • To provide timely and professional documentation of activities and results against the agreed schedule of objectives
  • To drive and deliver continuous feedback on the marketplace for the benefit of the business.
  • To represent the business as an ambassador and to be held in the highest regard, in terms of professionalism and integrity at all times
  • Obtain and maintain a high level of customer intelligence including their short, medium
- and long-term plans

  • Attend company training courses and relevant industry events to keep your knowledge up to date
  • Adhere to the company's pricing policy on products sold and seek the relevant authorisation where any price deviation is required


To be successful in this role you should have a degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar and proven track record of successfully demonstrated growth in distribution in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
