    FPCR have been at the forefront of thedevelopment of BNG since 2012 having more recently been heavilyinvolved in the development of version and 4.0 metrics leada consortium to develop the small sites metric and completed acontract to design and build the BNG GIS templates.

    As a result of FPCRs continued involvementwidely seen as a trusted authority on BNG matters and because ofthe evolving legislative and policy framework in the UK we haveseen an increased volume of project related BNG work from ourexisting client base in addition to other involvement inprospective biodiversity banking and offsetting schemes.

    We are therefore seeking to grow our teamcapability in this area from field survey assessment through GISMapping metric population to habitat creation management andmonitoring plans. Whilst it is the intention for these to be thecore responsibilities of the job role there will also beopportunities for involvement in the more general ecological fieldsurvey work and reporting. So although the role is primarily as abiodiversity net gain specialist there will be a requirement tomaintain a flexible and adaptable attitude and approach and it willbe necessary to work alongside and contribute to objectives of thewider Exeter ecology team. Initial broad work areas are outlinedbelow:

    What will you bedoing

    • Undertakingfieldwork including site surveys and monitoring
    • Preparation of management plans and documentsrequired to secure projects
    • Liaison withvarious stakeholders including developers local authoritieslandowners environmental NGOs
    • Land managementadvice habitat restoration advice overseeing habitat creationprojects
    • Biodiversity netgain assessments including use of biodiversity metrics and designand delivery of net gain solutions
    • GIS mapping
    • Development and input into projects asopportunities arise
    • General ecological fieldwork
    • Reportwriting
    • Associated consultancy services insupport of the practices corebusiness

    What we arelooking for

    We are looking for anenthusiastic and experienced ecologist that has the followingskills:

    • Degree level orequivalent academic qualification in Ecology or relatedfield
    • Membership of Chartered Institute ofEcology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) eligibility formembership or other similar isdesirable;
    • Experience in the use of the 4.0metric and condition assessments
    • Knowledge ofBNG principles and processes
    • GIS use(preferably QGIS or aptitude tolearn)
    • Botanical survey experience FISC 3 orequivalent and proficient in survey using UKHabclassification
    • Preparation of habitatmanagement plans
    • A full clean UK drivinglicense and access to avehicle.

    Desirable skills ofinterestinclude:

    • Experienceof Phase 2 protected species survey (reptiles GCN bats dormouseriparian mammals badgers etc.)
    • FISC 4 orequivalent botanical expertise across a range of habitattypes
    • knowledge of the planningsystem
