    IT Infrastructure Specialist - Harrogate, North Yorkshire, United Kingdom - Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust

    The role of IT Infrastructure Specialist will:

    • Provide strategic technical direction and solution design across core technologies underpinning the clinical applications specialising in the IT Infrastructure, Networking , Telecoms & Servers.
    • Take the lead on Infrastructure elements of Digital projects working directly with the Trusts project managers, manage the implementation of Infrastructure projects.
    • Analyse, investigate and diagnose complex facts and situations when dealing with strategic or operational issues using appropriate resources to resolve the issues in a timely manner
    • Manage and support the end to end information infrastructure service across the organisation to ensure it is reliable, available and performs as agreed.

    • Lead on designing and implementing production environments to ensure alignment with trust growth plans and project initiatives.
    • Take the lead on Infrastructure elements of Digital projects working directly with the Trusts project managers, manage the implementation of Infrastructure projects.
    • Manage and support the end to end information infrastructure service across the organisation, participate in the departmental on call support rota
    • Engage in strategic disaster recovery planning for all design aspects of technology infrastructure.
    • Pro-actively review new and emerging technologies with its subsequent application according to the Trusts business requirements, where relevant, provide input into business cases.
    • Highlight areas of practice that would benefit from review or improvement. Appraise, interpret and apply suggestions, recommendations and directives which have been agreed to improve services

    Job description Job responsibilities
    • Provide strategic technical direction and solution design across all core technologies, specialising in Servers, Networking & Telecoms
    • Lead on designing and implementing production environments to ensure alignment with trust growth plans and project initiatives
    • Take the lead on Infrastructure elements of Digital projects working directly with the Trusts project managers, manage the implementation of Infrastructure projects
    • Manage and support the end to end information infrastructure service across the organisation, participate in the departmental on call support rot

    • Undertaking research and development initiatives on a range of emerging technologies and keep abreast of industry developments
    • Carry out internal reviews of the technology enterprise and other available data to identify where investment is required to ensure strategic objectives are achieved
    • Ensure ICT Support and Operational Groups are aware of Server, Networking & Telecoms technologies
    • Aid with technical strategic plans and are engaged where applicable during the implementation process
    • Work closely with staff both inside and outside the department communicating highly specialist technical information
    • Provide and receive highly complex technical information ensure agreement of complex detail within technical information present back such information to large both technical and to non-technical staff goups within the trust
    • Communicates a wide range of infrastructure issues which can be complex and multi-stranded. Accurately communicates findings to non-technical colleagues using appropriate terminology
    • Negotiates priorities with both trust staff and suppliers on e.g. system design and development, reporting processes, IT training, with non IT managers Trains or presents on complex IT issues
    • Help to lead and motivate staff within the team to deliver and improve services, mentor and train junior staff within the department, either directly or through delegated responsibility
    • Assist with developing the operational and planning processes throughout department to deliver services to required standards and within the available resource base
    • Train and cascade information relating to hardware and software developments to such staff groups as may be necessary to assist with communication and business continuity
    • Liaise with other hospitals and providers to ensure that the best practice techniques developed elsewhere can be utilised at this Trust
    • Help to develop and implement policies and procedures for the use of digital department staff
    Person Specification Qualifications, Skills and Experience Essential
    • Degree level or able to demonstrate equivalent professional experience
    • LAN/WAN & Wireless Networking design and concepts
    • Firewall, Server, Network & Telecoms security concepts
    • Ability to work under extreme pressure and produce high quality work to tight deadlines
    • Ability to work autonomously or as part of a team
