Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Cargo Underwriter to join our Marine Team, based in London.

Day-to-day responsibilities of this role include contribution towards the growth and build-out of the UK/International Wholesale Cargo proposition across all relevant distribution channels, pre-qualifying accounts, utilising underwriting acumen to select risks within the company's risk appetite and expanding and developing new business opportunities through engagement with brokers and customers.

You should be comfortable working closely with actuaries, the Claims team and underwriters from across the broader team.

In addition, necessary character, relationship building and negotiating skills to help lead and further build a profitable book of business are of the upmost importance.

This position is a great fit for an experienced Senior Cargo Underwriter looking to expand their responsibilities and underwriting knowledge with an experienced and well-regarded unit within a top global insurance company.

Underwrite accounts while ensuring appropriate analysis and documentation without sacrificing discipline, diligence and quality service
Underwrite complex and challenging risks while developing creative solutions for our brokers and customers
Collaborate with teammates across all product lines, claims and actuarial

Strong financial acumen with highly analytical outlook
Solid understanding of policy forms and coverage, including common market forms and manuscript requests
Degree or equivalent education, and/or strong insurance qualifications
