An operations Manager is needed to join a rapidly expanding distributor to be based in either Loughborough or East Grinstead.

This is a multi-site operation requiring regular UK travel, offering a salary up to £60K, + benefits


Joining an established, financially stable market leading business who have enjoyed significant sales growth in recent years, the Operations Manager is a new role.


As the business embarks on an exciting 5yr plan of growth and expansion the Operations Manager will lead all existing warehouses and depots, whilst supporting the opening of new UK sites to support expansion into new regions.


Primarily you will be responsible for ensuring that customers' orders are delivered on time, and in full, at the lowest possible cost to serve.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Ensure operations, people, processes, infrastructure, and technology deliver against the growth plan
  • Lead the planning and implementation of warehouses and depots to launch into new markets
  • Manage the operational budget and forecasts with a focus on cost to serve
  • Ensure that shipping processes are legally compliant, fit for purpose and meet the needs of customers
  • Implement click and collect, timed collections and a Warehouse Management (WMS) System.
  • Manage and report on operational productivity and performance against agreed objectives and KPIs
  • Coordinate short
- and long-term operational workload plans and create appropriate contingencies

  • Analyse warehousing, depot and fleet performance and processes and implement improvements
  • Support the implementation of a sustainability programme for warehousing and operations in all sites
  • Perform quality controls and monitor production KPIs
  • Improve operational management systems, processes and best practices
  • Lead teams in ensuring best in class service and productivity, whilst adhering to company culture and values.
  • Effectively manage supplier relationships and commercial agreements where necessary

Whom we are looking for:


  • You possess extensive career success in managing product flows to B2B and B2C customers in an omnichannel operation from multiple Warehouses and Depots in the UK
  • A driver who is willing and able to commute frequently between sites in the East Midlands and Surrey
  • Demonstrable history of opening depots, building teams and implementing new processes and procedures
  • Experience in implementing WMS (Warehouse Management Systems
  • Your relevant career success to date will ideally have been gained within the distribution, building or construction sectors
  • Relevant Health and Safety Qualifications
  • Experience in leading teams in multisite operations in a rapidgrowth business
  • Budget management and ability to use strong commercial acumen in the context of operations
  • Suitable applicants must be able to drive and can work and remain in the UK without sponsorship
