Help us deliver the leading customer service to our Global Client base by creating the best Export department with outstanding service delivery.

All of our clients are international so every single order is exported, our clients and our business will literally rely on you and the department to deliver.


You will set the strategy for the Export Department and lead the full cycle of the export function from sourcing and managing our export partners, delivering accurate quotations and providing efficient and cost-effective deliveries that delight our customers by taking the goods right into their classrooms.

You will strive for service excellence, continuous improvement and best practice. You will be a positive and forward thinking leader, with the ability of both strategic direction and tactical execution.


Responsibilities

  • Setting the operational strategy for the Export function
  • Managing relationships with international clients and export partners (freight forwarder, local agents and couriers)
  • Negotiating terms with new export partners and managing those relationships and service levels.
  • Put procedures in place to ensure that freight shipments arrive on time and managing the situation quickly, cost effectively and with great customer attention when it doesn't.
  • Feedback and support transformation of existing Supply chain, Warehousing processes and other related functions that could improve the Export function and overall organisation service.
  • Transform the existing Export department to a modern, efficient, paperfree business area that delivers superior service and is a key selling point of the business to our clients.
  • Input into the various transformation projects that are planned or ongoing in the business.
  • Provide delivery management information which demonstrates cost and service levels of the department and ownership of the service from Warehouse to the client's classroom.
  • Managing the export team and take them with you on the transformation journey.
  • Responsibility for all relevant regulations to ensure the company remains legal and efficient in regard to customs regulations, tariff schedules, trade agreements and international quality standards.
  • Ensure construction of accurate and cost effective shipping quotations that help us win business
  • Proactively reviewing processes and procedures, striving for continuous improvement
  • Regularly review structure and identify cost saving initiatives and areas of potential improvement or control

Skills and qualifications

Essential

  • Experienced Export Head with history of sea freight to MENA, APAC by CIP & DDP terms and Europe by land.
  • Set and implement departmental strategy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong business acumen
  • An exceptional level of attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
  • A selfsufficient leader with gravitas and a positive, resultsdriven approach
  • Clean DBS check for CAA Air Freight certification
  • Change Management

Desirable

  • Air Freight export experience
  • Educational resources market experience
  • Experience of working for a consolidator

Organisation


The role will report directly to the Operations Director and is a critical element of our new go to market plan.

The role is full time with some degree of flexibility to hybrid working.
