    COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

    PERMANENT ROLE

    ESS Recruits client specialises in developing low-carbon solutions aimed at reducing industrial carbon emissions. Their solutions include carbon capture, storage, and hydrogen. The company is currently focused on a key project in Scotland, which aims to create a catalyst that will facilitate industrial decarbonisation. This project will play a crucial role in helping the UK and Scotland meet their net-zero goals while maintaining the viability of important industries. The successful development of this catalyst will have significant implications for the future of low-carbon solutions.

    The company is currently seeking an experienced Communications Manager to lead the development and implementation of communication strategies. You will play a key role in ensuring effective communication with internal and external stakeholders to maintain a positive project narrative, oversee delivery of community engagement and public consultation.

    The role will report to the Head of External Affairs

    Key Objectives of the Role

    • and implement comprehensive communication strategies aligned with project objectives and organisational goals, including public consultation to support development planning applications.
    • management expertise, with an ability to work across a complex matrix of stakeholders and manage a high performing team.
    • ability to drive strategic change within a business or project.
    • with project managers and key stakeholders to integrate communication plans into project timelines.
    • Head of External Affairs with stakeholder engagement strategies and ensure alignment of key messages.
    • a small Project Communication Team (Senior Communications Advisor, Community Liaison Officer, and a part time Stakeholder Lead).
    • and manage external communication agencies to leverage their expertise and support in executing communication plans and deliverables.
    • and/or participate in working groups as required.
    • and implementing successful integrated communications campaigns, working across a broad range of media including digital, social, film, print and PR.
    • the project at external meetings, political briefings, industry events.
    • link between the organisation's Corporate Affairs central function and the project.

    Required Skills and Qualifications

    • years'+ experience working in a senior communication/ engagement role.
    • planning experience, with an ability to work across a complex matrix of stakeholders and manage a high performing team.
    • working in the energy industry, preferably working with low carbon energy/ energy transition.
    • track record of delivering effective communication and stakeholder engagement campaigns.
    • people skills
    • written, editing and presentation skills.
    • to absorb and interpret complex information and translate into clear, simple messages.
    • of crisis communications and/or successfully managing sensitive issues
    • knowledge of UK and Scottish policy on climate change, net zero targets and industrial decarbonisation
    • to work to tight deadlines, plan and prioritise workload and manage a small team.
    • to undertake regular travel to Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and the Central Belt of Scotland as required.
