Head of Software Development - Brighton - £95k

We have partnered up with a rapidly growing IT Service provider based in Brighton.

This will be a key role in transforming the way the software is delivered in the business, providing leadership and line management to a team of 15 in house developers, ensuringappropriate processes, toolsets and governance are implemented.


You will be tasked ingraining new ways of working such as establishing and maintaining standards and metrics which are applied across the software development organisation in support of continuous improvement.

You will work with other members of the managementteam to embed Agile practices and facilitate predictable, rapid delivery of business benefit.

You will also be tasked with managing the implementation of appropriate process or technology improvements in support of the software delivery processes, includingbut not limited to source code management, CI/CD, project tracking, monitoring and alerting.

Essential Skills

  • Prior management experience within software development environment
  • Prior experience transforming a development function ideally within an Agile environment
  • Builds and maintains effective contacts with key business stakeholders
  • Leads and inspires a development team, maintaining open and honest communications
  • Experience building and growing capability within a team, including previous experience of handling employee reviews, consultations, and improvement plans
  • Technically adept development experience within a LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) would be ideal
  • Monitoring and reporting on progress to both technical and nontechnical audiences
  • Able to work in complex environments, dealing with ambiguity
