Support Officer

Based at Collin's Street, Oxford, OX4 1XS but covering schemes in Oxford City, Didcot and Witney so driving is an essential requirement.

£22,286-£26,978 per year for 35 hours, equivalent to £12.24 to £14.82 per hour - plus on-call allowance.

Full-time, fixed term until 31 March 2024, with the possibility of extension - although part time hours will be considered

Working at our young parent schemes in Oxfordshire, you will work as part of a team providing housing and support to young people and young parents aged 16-24 years old.

Primarily you will promote independence, freedom and choice as a keyworker to residents, working with them to achieve their goals as they work towards independent living.

This will also involve ensuring residents are safe and able to manage risks as necessary, which often you'll need to do with the help of partner agencies.

You will be responsible for health and safety checks within the building, as well as reporting and monitoring maintenance issues.

You will be required to take part in an on-call rota for out of hours emergencies at the schemes, for which an additional payment is made.

Who are we looking for?


You won't necessarily have experience in this sector, as we recognise that transferrable skills and experience are just as valuable.


For example, you may:

  • Have experience of working in a customerfacing role, and a passion for customer service.
  • Have the understanding to motivate people who have complex and diverse issues including alcohol or substance misuse, mental health trauma and/or behavioural challenges.
  • Have an awareness of Universal Credit and Housing Benefit, as well as voluntary and statutory support agencies.
  • Have the skills to identify and manage risk.
  • Have an awareness of safeguarding measures and processes.
  • Have excellent communication skills.
  • Have exceptional administration and IT skills especially Windows, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel).
  • You must have a full driving licence, together with a car available and insured for business purposes. Where you need to use this for business travel, mileage reimbursed at 45p per mile.
  • You should be able and willing to work flexibly across similar Care & Support services within a reasonable distance from your main base (transport costs reimbursed) in support of colleagues elsewhere remember, this works both ways
