Role definition


Reporting to the Underwriting Operations Manager, the primary role of the European Underwriting Coordinator is to act as the individual with key responsibility for CFC's intermediation activity throughout the EU and EEA, including the issuance of quote andpolicy documentation, and responding to customer enquiries.

In addition to acting as the intermediary for CFC's European business, you will assist with administrative tasks and ad hoc projects for the underwriting operations team.


You will also be ensuring our CFC Europe processes are followed, assisting the compliance team with arranging and delivering a compliance monitoring plan for our European policies.


You'll develop a thorough understanding of CFC's workflow processes and systems as well as gaining exposure to the various classes of insurance that CFC underwrites and will also become familiar with both the European and UK insurance markets.


Key responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Carrying out and coordinating underwriting approvals and support to London based teams.
  • Providing excellent support to various underwriting teams to ensure CFC can adhere to target turnaround times for our EU / EEA brokers and insureds;
  • Managing the CFC Europe mailbox and handling broker queries;
  • Support the Compliance team in arranging and delivering a Compliance Monitoring plan, including underwriting team, file and thematic reviews to ensure policies meet CFC's binding authority guidelines and compliance requirements.
  • Assist with conducting and document underwriting risk reviews;
  • Participate in the CFCE Operations Committee, as required, and provide high quality MI and reporting into the CFCE Operations pack;
  • Working with the Compliance Team, support preparation for and coordination of internal and external audits;
  • Answering incoming calls and fielding queries as appropriate;
  • Support European regulatory and compliance projects, as required;
  • Management of underwriting operations projects where capacity allows;
  • Assistance with translation projects where capacity/skills allows;
  • General adhoc administrative duties as required.

Skills & Ability

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise work to meet tight deadlines and turnaround times;
  • Resilient and able to operate effectively and accurately under pressure;
  • Excellent level of attention to detail including accurate written and numeracy skills;
  • Good command of the English language, both spoken and written;
  • Good command of French and/or Flemish desirable, both spoken and written;
  • Good communications skills, courtesy and patience;
  • Confident, energetic and assertive;
  • Strong work ethic with a flexible attitude;
  • Ability to work relatively autonomously;
  • Above all you're a team player

Knowledge & Experience

  • Minimum 6 months insurance experience;
  • A "basic insurance knowledge" exam must be taken and passed, covering the insurance market and regulations regarding the insurance contract.
  • Computer literacy with strong skills in Outlook, Word and particularly Excel;
  • Experience within an office environment is helpful but not essential;
  • Experience with and appreciation for remote working is helpful but not essential;
  • A strong interest in learning more about CFC's insurance products and the insurance market.
