    THE ROLEThe Operations Technician is responsible for the safe operation of the plant from the control room with focus on ensuring production demands are met whilst adhering to safety and quality standards.

    The position reports directly to a Shift Team Leader.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIESOperating the plant to ensure compliance with all relevant Health, Safety and Environmental legislationCarrying out plant-related routine duties to ensure plant performance, availability and reliability is maintained to a high levelPerforms fault diagnosis and reactive maintenance as well as proactive monitoring of the process performance trends to spot errors or anomalies and address them before they affect productionUsing a Distributed Control System (DCS) system you will be required to start, stop and monitor turbines, boilers, pumps, water treatment plant and moreInterrogates and fault finds process and equipment issues by interrogation of Plant DCS and Process Control Systems, and liaises with engineering team for in depth troubleshootingREQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCESWe are open to considering applicants from a range of different industry backgrounds, it's not essential to have prior experience in the Waste-to-Energy field.

    We would however expect suitable applicants to have prior experiences of at least some of the following;Recognised Engineering or Operational qualification, either apprenticeship, C&G, NVQ3, ONC or HNCWorking knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental legal requirementsDemonstrable experience working with Permit-to-Work systemsThe willingness to learn and undergo a short training period which will involve learning the plant and the processes and procedures involved in operating a facilityAbility to work a full shift system with flexibility to provide support as needed to ensure the safe operation of the PlantPlease note that we do not welcome any agency / 3rd party involvement or approaches on this vacancy until a time we deem to be suitable and at which point we will work with our preferred suppliers only.
