    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 nurse to apply for the position of Cardiology /Heart Failure Nurse Specialist This post adds to the current complement of clinical nurse specialists in cardiology at UCLH, within the Medical Specialties Division.

    The post holder will predominately work in heart failure but will be expected to work closely with colleagues throughout cardiology and provide cover for CNS activities in the acute medical unit (AMU) and the out-patient department. Within the heart failure service, the CNS will aim to contribute to improved outcomes for patients with Heart Failure and those at risk of Cardiovascular Disease. These goals will be addressed through meticulous clinical management, patient education, research, audit and professional activities within local and national guidelines and the Clinical Governance Framework.

    The post holder will act as an autonomous practitioner with full clinical accountability for a caseload and be a recognised clinical leader in this area of work. Clinical duties will be undertaken with close collaboration with the cardiology consultants charged with delivering that service, from heart failure, acute cardiology to low-risk chest pain clinic services.

    Main duties of the job

    The post will require team working with professionals from nursing, medical and allied professions within primary and secondary care and third sector organisations. The post holder will be expected to provide support to patients, their carers and community staff by contributing to education aiming to raise understanding of heart failure and enable individuals to fully contribute to the management of their medical problems.

    This post requires a five-day week commitment ( without night, weekend or bank holiday working.
