    We are looking for an enthusiastic, forward-thinking Dietitianwith excellent communication and team working skills to join the KirkleesLearning Disabilities Health Team

    The candidate would need to successfully complete the competencyframework before they gain the band 6 and this would not be achieved due tolength of time in post.

    You would join our well-established team and be working in arange of community settings to support the assessment and delivery ofhigh-quality therapeutic interventions to address the nutritional and dietaryneeds of service users.

    Focusing particularly on nutrition support, diabetes,weight management and other specialist areas of dietetics that arise.

    The full MDT works together to enable service users reach theiroptimal potential and remain well in their communities. This will requiremanagement of a clinical caseload and close liaison with other agencies.

    Experience in learning disabilities/mental health is desirable.

    We provide regular appraisals, management, and clinicalsupervision from experienced band 7 Dietitians and from the widerprofessional Network across the Trust with an emphasis on evidence-based andinnovative practice.

    Main duties of the job

    You willdemonstrate a positive attitude and manage a clinical caseload within theservice that is responsive to service user needs.

    You will be a specialist source of advice and expertise, in themanagement of the nutritional wellbeing of service users, such as nutritionalsupport, food allergies, gastrointestinal disorders, weight management.

    Provide a clinical and educational community dietetic service,contribute to implementation of the Trust's Nutrition Policy, and update andimplement service standards.

    You will be putting research into practice and Links andsupport/supervision will be available from the Dietetic Network for thisspecialist area as required.

    You will benefit from clinical supervision and the professionalleadership of the Dietetic Network across the Trust.

    As part of the Dietetic network, you will be able to contributeto student training.

    You will undertake an MDT interdisciplinary approach in theKirklees locality, to improve service user outcomes and ensure delivery of aco-ordinated service through interpretation/application of local and nationalguidance.

    Job responsibilities

    To deliver a nutrition & dietetic service in a sensitive, ethical andprofessional manner to service users and carers in the (insert area ofspeciality) in the (Insert locality/BDU) area of the South West Yorkshire PartnersshipNHS Foundation Trust.

    To providespecialist advice to the Trust and support staff in the delivery of the Food& Nutrition Policies.

    To establish a clinical caseload within an agreed service area that isresponsive to patient needs and Trust expectations.

    To provide specialist nutrition assessment and care plans for serviceusers .

    To support the implementation of the Trust Food and Nutrition Policies.

    To contribute in the update and implementation of service standards,policies and procedures.

    To participate in the monitoring of service performance through regular audit.

    To supervise and support junior colleagues.

    To participate in training of dietetic students and health careprofessionals in specified areas of nutrition and dietetics.

    To be actively involved in continuing professional development.

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Degree or equivalent in Nutrition and Dietetics or degree and PG qualification in Dietetics.
  • HCPC registered Dietitian.
  • Desirable

  • British Dietetic Association Specialist Courses.
  • Experience

  • Demonstrable post qualification experience within various clinical settings & age groups relevant to the post.
  • Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team, as well as independently using own initiative.
