As an Autism Support Assistant, your job role will include:

  • Working as part of a classroom and wider-School team to support students aged 2-16 years old with autism.
  • Working closely with School staff to provide a stimulating and safe learning environment.
  • Assisting teachers with organising and preparing classroom resources and activities.
  • Understanding and implementing School policies, such as a Positive Reward Behaviour policy.
  • Delivering 1:1 and small group interventions, such as Phonics, Numeracy and Literacy.
As an Autism Support Assistant, it is vital to understand autism and the behaviours it can present. You should have a natural enthusiasm and positive outlook to engage and support young people.

Having a good sense of humour and being resilient will prove vital to becoming a successful member of the team.


An Enhanced child only DBS on the Update Service is a MUST. If you don't have a DBS, you can process one through GSL Education.

As an Autism Teaching Assistant, you will have two dedicated consultants who will support your career and will provide you with flexible opportunities and offer competitive rates of pay up to £90 per day.
