    Description

    The Role

    The postholder will carry continuing responsibility for the organisation, coordination and management of ward areas, community and neonatal unit and the effective deployment of staff on a shift to shift basis. S/he will be involved in planning, implementing and evaluating clinical care within all patient areas of the maternity service by acting as the clinical expert and support to the multi-disciplinary team whilst ensuring compliance with NHS Lanarkshire's policy and procedures and maintaining statutory requirements in accordance with the NMC. S/he will provide managerial support to the Senior Charge Midwife/ and Practice Development Midwife whilst developing and maintaining clinical skills in practice. To provide safe, effective centred person care.

    What we'll need you to bring

  • Registered Midwife with valid NMC RegistrationEducated to/working towards/operating at Degree LevelPost graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently. Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice.Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality / area of practice.Management qualification or equivalent gained through experience and continuous professional developmentFurther education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualificationThe post holder will possess excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work using own initiativeExcellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.Effective time management skillsWorking knowledge of basic information technology
  • It would be great if you also have

  • Extensive midwifery/nursing experience
  • Experience in taking charge of ward, planning, implementing and evaluating care throughout midwifery/neonatal career
  • Contract type

    23 hours

    Please note this is a part time post and the salary for this position will be pro-rata.

    Location and Working Pattern

    This role will be based in Maternity within University Hospital Wishaw.

    The working pattern for this role will be Rotational Shifts.
