Starting Salary up to £40,000 + Private Health Insurance + Workplace Pension

We are seeking a Project Scientist / Field Engineer to join the UK operation of an international group of companies specialising in the design and manufacture of acoustic instrumentation, conduct of large scale and complex acoustic recording projects and numerical acoustic modelling of underwater noise.

The group employs some of the world's leading acoustic and bioacoustic scientists and candidates will need to demonstrate an exceptional level of academic capability and a high standard of written English to be successful.

The role principally involves advanced numerical acoustic modelling for a range of industrial activities, preparation of reports and presentation of results.

A number of coding languages are used in the businesses modelling methodologies and there will be a steep learning curve requiring a diligent, proactive and thorough approach.

Coding skills are essential as is an ability to work logically to manipulate large volumes of data in a variety of software applications.

The work is also highly collaborative, and a typical project involves input from experts in a number of different offices around the world - therefore good communication skills are vital.

Candidates will require both a strong academic background in either acoustics, physics, engineering or maths as well as a willingness and practical ability to work effectively at sea and cope with the physical aspects of handling occasionally large and complex acoustic equipment in sometimes challenging settings.

The challenges that accompany this position offer a high level of job satisfaction and intellectual fulfilment within the framework of this flexible, exceptionally friendly, international rapidly growing business.

Candidates will need to be eligible to work in the UK, hold a full driving licence and, on joining, pass a UKOOA offshore medical and complete formal HSE (BOSIET) training to qualify for offshore work.

    NOTE:
This role is NOT suitable for Oceanography (BSc) graduates. We are looking for MEng / PhD Engineering graduates with strong Maths, Physics and Coding skills
