![Default job background](https://contents.bebee.com/public/img/bg-user-ex-1.jpg)
Description
Our Senior Solicitor roles can be based at any of the offices listed below:
Newcastle, Liverpool, London, Leeds, Northstowe, Coventry, Bristol, Guildford and Manchester. Please note our Coventry office will be relocating to Birmingham summer 2024.
We have 3 other Senior Solicitor roles in our growing Legal Team: 2 x Investment & 1 x Commercial.
A bit about the role...
Working in a team with Head of Legal (Development) and three other senior solicitors you will be given a rare opportunity to develop your career, grow your expertise and undertake professional development with roles and projects that will accelerate housing delivery and create thriving places by acquiring, de-risking and disposing of land for regeneration and development.
The purpose of this role is to provide a proactive, professional legal service to Homes England in relation to a mixed caseload of transactional and governance advice relating to:
projects as part of a multi-disciplinary team; Land & Property: including acquisitions, disposals, site assembly and title investigation, statutory transfers, landlord & tenant, infrastructure agreements and regeneration; Planning: including compulsory purchase and s106 agreements; Grant Agreements:to public and private sector organisations Working with key internal and external stakeholders you will ensure efficient, consistent and effective provision of legal services and have the opportunity to help deliver the homes and places that our communities need, and to support the regeneration of our towns, cities and rural communities.
You should enjoy working in the transaction environment either directly offering advice or instructing external solicitors to ensure Homes England accesses the best advice.
From day one, you'll be encouraged, challenged, supported, stretched and listened to. You'll take ownership of projects to develop your skills and work with multi-disciplined teams where your advice matters and directly helps enable us to address the current housing market issues and help deliver the Agency's mission to increase the delivery of new homes.
This is a rare chance to be part of a fast growing, national organisation with real social purpose.
A bit about you...
As well as being able to draw on substantial legal experience advising on land law, property acquisitions and development disposals; you'll need real energy, be highly motivated and able to demonstrate your ability to work and succeed in an ever-changing and fast-paced environment.
You will be curious, adaptable, collaborative and commercially aware. Strong intellectual and analytical skills are important too and we will support you to develop your legal expertise making this role a particularly rare opportunity to have a blended commercial and public sector legal practice.
A positive attitude when faced with transaction-based challenges and problem solving will be essential qualities. Above all a proven and continuing commitment to offering high quality transactional experience will be essential.
Delivering on a mission as bold as ours isn't always easy. You will be resilient and comfortable managing stakeholders at a senior level and your discussions will always be shaped by a good understanding of the commercial and operational impact of what we do as a legal team. You will enjoy working in an innovative, fun and engaging way and be able to negotiate and persuade.
As an experienced legal professional you'll understand how to manage colleagues and be able to demonstrate you can work with others as part of a team in a collaborative, inclusive way.
Who are we?
Homes England: The Housing and Regeneration Agency
We believe that affordable, quality homes in well-designed places are key to improving people's lives. As the government's housing and regeneration agency, we create thriving new places and transform urban areas, combining the full breadth of our powers, expertise, land, capital and influence to bring investment to communities and get more homes built.
How? We form long-term partnerships that bridge the gap between the public and private sector to meet local needs and aspirations. We use our influence to champion the creation of sustainable homes, communities and places that are brilliantly designed for the people that live there now, and in the future. And we use our funding and support to build a more resilient, diverse and innovative housing sector, helping new entrants in the market, encouraging modern methods of construction and design, and promoting the utmost attention to building safety.
Together with our partners, we're accelerating the pace of house building, remediation and regeneration across the country, as we seek to deliver ever more affordable homes in places people are proud to call home for generations to come.
