    My client, one of the Oxford University Colleges, urgently requires an interim Head of Finance to cover for the current incumbent. This is a great opportunity to work for one of the most prestigious universities globally within stunning surroundings in a pivotal finance role.

    Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Interim Head of Finance to provide temporary cover for the finance department, with the year-end approaching on July 31st. The role involves overseeing monthly management accounts, forecasts, budgets, and financial statements. You will collaborate with budget holders and internal stakeholders to ensure financial processes run smoothly. Additionally, you will lead a team of three, focusing on process improvement and maximising the benefits of the new finance software.

    Responsibilities:

  • Manage the finance department effectively during the absence of the Head of Finance.
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly management accounts, including commentary.
  • Lead the forecasting and budgeting processes.
  • Ensure accurate and timely production of financial statements.
  • Collaborate with budget holders and internal stakeholders to support financial decision-making.
  • Provide leadership, motivation, and development opportunities for the finance team.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Exploit the benefits of our new finance software to streamline operations and improve reporting.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and technical expertise in financial management.
    Requirements:
  • Proven experience in a managerial finance role.
  • Strong technical skills in financial reporting and analysis.
  • Ability to manage, motivate, and develop a finance team.
  • Experience with process improvement initiatives.
  • Familiarity with implementing and optimising finance systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Professionalism and integrity in all aspects of work.
    Other Details:
  • This is a temporary position to cover sick leave.
  • Immediate availability preferred.
  • This role is based on site 5 days per week
  • Based in Oxford City Centre there is no parking so the successful candidate will need to either commute using public transport or the park and ride scheme
  • This role is inside IR35 and is offered on a fixed term contract basis.
