As the Machine shop inspector you will play a key role in checking components against relevant documented specifications whilst providing a balance between cost-effectiveness and quality control. You will ensure that the equipment used is appropriate for the product, and the correct programs are developed, stored, selected and used to generate the required reporting content and accuracy. As the machine shop inspector you will ensure that products are processed in a timely and an accurate manner providing accurate and timely reports in accordance with the production schedule. You will work in collaboration with the inspection team encouraging positive open discussions on component deficiencies, safety and quality specifications making recommendations to improve processes, methods and safety.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Ensure all company policies surrounding material handling, health & safety, quality requirements and housekeeping are met
  • Interpret or evaluate inspection measurements in accordance with applicable specifications, or procedures.
  • Determine most effective (Cost, risk and benefit) methodology for inspection of parts and recommend changes to prescribed processes where required.
  • Make recommendations for acceptance or otherwise of parts based on inspection results
  • Review nonconforming product and determine and take the most appropriate action utilizing all available data sources, experience and knowledge.
  • Program, operate and optimize the use of the CMM equipment provided on site.
  • Review and suggest existing and new products which are appropriate for CMM inspection
  • Review CMM equipment, tooling and process and identify efficiencies and improvements
  • Interpret the results of all methods of inspection.
  • Select, calibrate, or operate equipment used in the QC inspection of products or materials
  • Conduct preoperation daily and other checks on equipment where required.
  • Examine machined product using mechanical, and/or automated inspection techniques.
  • Prepare inspection reports
  • Investigate NCR's as required and determine and take the most appropriate action, using all available relevant data sources.
  • Work with QC team and QA manager on NCR's as required.
  • Support wider inspection function, by carrying out inspection duties when business requirements dictate.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • NDT, ASNT level 2 qualified (essential).

EXPERIENCE:


  • Working knowledge within a similar role (essential).
  • Working with Grant Prideco / Tenaris rotary shouldered threaded connections (desirable).

SKILLS, TRAINING & SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE:


  • Computer literacy (including good command of Microsoft Office Excel, Word and Outlook) (essential).
