A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join BEAR Scotlands SE bridges team as an Industrial Painter.


The South East Unit includes 870 bridges and structures including the iconic Queensferry Crossing and Forth Road Bridge, as well as other major bridges such as the Kincardine Bridge and Clackmannanshire Bridge.

Trunk roads in the South East serve as a vital link for Scotland's economy, ensuring thousands of daily journeys and deliveries are carried out safely.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Industrial Painter to join the Major Bridges Maintenance Team.

The post holder will carry out blasting and painting tasks to specified sector scheme standards, cyclic maintenance as required as part of department routine schedule.

Work as part of the access installation/removal team for bespoke access systems.

The role is of a craft nature and as such the post holder should be time served or appropriately qualified tradesperson from the discipline.

This is a full-time role.


Responsibilities include:


  • Carry out blasting and painting tasks.
  • Assist maintenance team in bespoke access installation/removal.
  • Carry out cyclic maintenance tasks within own team.
  • Rescue Team participation.
  • Adhere to Health & Safety legislation.
  • Operation of bridge access systems (gantries).
  • Assist other trades as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:


  • In date ICATS card
  • Applicator module.
  • In date ICATS card
  • Blasting/spraying modules.
  • Must be able to work to strict deadlines.
  • Must be able to work as part of composite team as required,
  • Work at height.
  • Confined Space
  • A full approved UK driving licence.
