The Team
Our team of HR professionals work closely to support the group's business strategy.

Our payroll and benefits team are responsible for the smooth delivery of our employees' remuneration and benefits packages. We proudly provide a succinct payroll and benefits service to over 1,300 employees monthly.


The Role


Assist the Payroll & Benefits Manager to provide a timely and accurate payroll and benefits service to the Gateley Group, ensuring staff are paid on time and in line with contractual obligations and legislative requirements.


  • Overseeing the processing of the full monthly payroll cycle.
  • Providing support and guidance to the Payroll and Benefits Administrator.
  • Reconciling and presenting monthly payroll data to the Payroll & Benefits Manager for sign off.
  • Performing the monthly reconciliation and overseeing the general administration of the group's personal pension plan/auto enrolment duties.
  • Supporting the Payroll & Benefits Manager with payroll system administration and development.
  • Staying up to date with HMRC legislation.
  • Assisting with any adhoc payroll and benefits projects as required.
  • Any other tasks associated with the position that may arise from time to time.

Key Skills & Experience

  • A minimum of 3+ years' payroll experience, ideally within a professional services environment.
  • Experience using Midland HR iTrent would be advantageous.
  • CIPP qualification desirable.
  • Excellent IT skills, in particular Excel.
  • Strong numerical aptitude and a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • A clear understanding of general payroll, benefits, salary sacrifice, tax and national insurance deductions.
  • Experience of working under pressure to tight deadlines with the ability to remain calm.
  • Capability to prioritise and multitask effectively, with good time management and organisational skills.
  • Always demonstrate discretion and the ability to maintain absolute confidentiality at all times.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
