The Role Overview


Data Governance at the FT encompasses Data Protection practices and Data Governance principles as well as AI Governance and internal consulting across both these areas.


What you'll bring to the role

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring and encouraging existence and function of suitable controls for the monitoring and establishment of good Data Governance practice
  • Maintaining and building on the trust customers and clients place in us in handling their information
  • Assessing cross business needs through nurturing relationships across the wider FT Group, and identifying genuine data needs which traverse functions for prioritisation.
  • Ensuring and monitoring that Data Subject Rights Requests and customer suppression requests are performed within required timeframes.
  • Champion the importance of embedding good governance and privacy principles
  • Managing priorities as required, including keeping track of Data priorities and those set by the Data Governance Council.
  • Monitoring training needs in Data Governance matters throughout the organisation
  • Influencing across a wide range of teams, stakeholders and offices to ensure that data goals are understood, agreed upon and acted upon.

Required Experience

Essential:

  • Applied knowledge of Data Governance Principles
  • Ability to selfmanage and manage a network of contacts across the business
  • Aptitude to develop a complex knowledge of the workings of the FT

  • Flexibility and adaptability identify issues, think creatively, propose solutions;
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to prioritise and manage own workload well

  • Meet with product managers to break down ideas

Desirable

  • Relevant certifications such as the IAPP Information Privacy Professional certifications, Certified Data Management Professional, etc.
