    Job role overview:

    To allow for the introduction of new and exciting automotive technology across our range of motorcycles, the Electrical & Electronic Systems department is looking to bring in talented, passionate, and driven systems engineers at both engineer and senior engineer level to join our Model Based Systems Engineering team, to support our future model development.

    The Systems Engineer role is an engineering role, responsible for development of customer facing Features from early definition to complete system requirements for production programmes. You will develop engineering deliverables such as Feature Definition, System Definition, Logical Architecture, Requirements, Specifications and System FMEA.

    Senior Engineers are expected to have significantly more experience, be capable of mentoring engineers, chair work product review meetings within the Company, peer review & sign off work products etc. and in some instances, as required deputise for the Team Leader - MBSE.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Defining and modelling features and systems using the PREEvision toolchain across multiple domains.


    • Individual specialisms will be encouraged and will be expected to cover ARAS (ADAS knowledge beneficial), connected vehicles, connected infotainment, chassis control, suspension control, keyless and immobiliser systems, lighting, braking, displays / HMI, electrified powertrain, and automotive communications / diagnostics.


    • Working with the feature and definitions owner to capture feature definition documentation by eliciting stakeholder needs, capturing stakeholder requirements and defining use cases at high level using UML diagrams.


    • Considering high level validation requirements for features.


    • Decomposing stakeholder requirements to generate atomic, verifiable requirements at a system level (both natural language and model based using SYSML).


    • Modelling and integrating systems at a logical level capturing logical architecture diagrams and system diagrams of different contexts.


    • Consideration of fault handling and diagnostics.


    • Modelling CAN and LIN bus communications.


    • Providing traceability of systems requirements to stakeholder level and ensuring all use cases have been considered.


    • Interact with stakeholders including Product Managers, Project Managers, Feature and Definition owners, Component Engineers, IT and Functional Safety Engineers.


    • Follow the feature definition and system definition process in accordance with the systems engineering lifecycle plan. Senior Engineers will be expected to use their knowledge of the systems engineering lifecycle to influence and ensure adherence to process.


    • Conduct system design reviews with relevant component engineers.


    • Follow change control process to deliver incremental change to in service systems.


    • Cascade requirements to components.


    • Apply systems engineering and problem-solving tools where necessary (Boundary diagrams, P Diagrams, Interface analysis).


    • Deliver new technology projects and coordinate work streams to achieve project goals and results including prototype or pilot project demonstration. Senior Engineers will be expected to lead the work products of such projects through pilot phase.


    • Design for re-use across multiple models and variants.


    • Engage in continual improvement activities to advance departmental procedures, advise best practice and improve efficiency within the team. Senior Engineers will be expected to lead Continual Improvement initiatives.


    • To undertake and assist with projects as required by your Manager.


    • Any other ad-hoc duties as required by your Manager. All Systems Engineers will be expected to deliver a subset of the below, however Senior Engineers will be required to demonstrate all at a high level.


    • Prepare effective presentations to communicate technical information to non-technical professionals.

    Define cost, quality and feature performance targets.


    • Review system designs to find new opportunities for cost and/or quality improvements.


    • Maintain system timing plan and support component workbook meetings.


    • Present status to component / project meetings and report on all actions.


    • Introduce and advocate Systems Engineering best practice to Junior Engineers
