A global organisation, headquartered in Newcastle city centre is seeking a Financial Accountant to join their team.

The Role

Duties of the Financial Accountant role will include:

  • To work with the Financial Reporting Manager and external advisors to manage tax reporting and payments for all entities including income tax, VAT and equivalent sales taxes to determined regulatory timeframes.
  • To manage the statutory accounts process for all entities and branches, in accordance with the relevant accounting principles
  • To prepare and communicate external reporting schedules for external accountants as required
  • To support with all external audits ensuring accurate information is provided and audited accounts are delivered
  • To proactively assist management in the risk assessment
  • Ensure appropriate controls in place for all transactional AP/ AR/ Payroll/ Banking accounting globally
  • To assist with the ongoing corporate simplification programme
  • To drive continuous improvements within designated areas of responsibility.

The Person

The requirements for the Financial Accountant role are:

  • ACCA/ACA qualified
  • Financial accounting and relevant technical accounting knowledge
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel
  • Experience with an ERP system (NetSuite an advantage)
  • Knowledge of financial reporting requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders up to and including Senior Executives
  • To work as part of a team and independently to deliver a common goal or objective
