Engagement with the region's public, private and academic sectors is at the heart of the operations and underpins all the activity outlined in Global West Midlands - Business Plan The Stakeholder Engagement Lead will play a critical role in ensuring that maintains and further strengthens its positive relations with its partners, with a particular focus on the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA), Local Authorities and universities.


You will be an excellent communicator, with strong inter-personal skills and a proven ability to engage with diverse stakeholders effectively, understanding their needs and issues.

You will have strong organisational and analytical skills and able to manage multiple activities at once.

You will be a team player with the ability to operate independently in a complex political environment, handling sensitive information appropriately.


You will support the development and implementation of a new system for reporting progress and performance to partners against identified regional and local priorities.

This will require close working with colleagues across client to ensure that milestones are met, achievements are effectively communicated, and any issues are raised and addressed.

It will also require presentation of detailed and complex information in a coherent and compelling way, that can be adapted to suit different audiences both internally and externally.


The Stakeholder Engagement Lead will have the knowledge, experience and credibility to engage with key partners at both an operational and senior level.

Your ability to foster trust, communication, and collaboration both within the business and with public and academic sector partners will be crucial in ensuring operations are as effective as possible and thereby achieve the best outcomes for regional economy.

Main responsibilities and key activities

Stakeholder relationship building and management:

develop and maintain strong working relationships with key partners, specifically the WMCA, Local Authorities and universities, through regular communication, meetings and other engagement activity.

Act as a point of contact for partners, addressing inquiries, providing feedback etc in a timely and professional manner.

Performance reporting:

support the Director of Policy & Partnerships in the regular reporting of progress against activity in Business Plan, including the delivery of local and regional priorities.

Lead on the development of progress reports to partners at both officer and political levels.

This will include presentations to individual organisations as well as West Midlands-wide reporting via the Board and the region's Economic Growth Board.


Collaboration and coordination:

engage closely with all functions to ensure that progress in relation to local and regional priorities is captured and shared internally and externally in an effective way.

Work with colleagues to ensure that new opportunities and any challenges are identified and appropriately communicated and acted-upon.

Liaise with colleagues to ensure that opportunities for further partnership working between the public and academic sectors and private sector partners are maximised.


Meeting management and documentation:
Prepare clear and concise reports and presentations and present to internal and external meetings as required. Maintain accurate records of partner meetings, decisions, and outcomes. Communicate actions and issues internally and follow-up to ensure timely completion of tasks.

Advocacy and representation:
Effectively represent interests to external partners and advocate for their needs and perspectives internally.

Qualifications:


  • Professional qualification or relevant degree, or equivalent experience

Knowledge and experience

Proven experience of effective stakeholder engagement in a complex operating environment
